Genelia D'Souza recently revealed how her then-beau, Riteish Deshmukh, left her miserable and depressed after breaking up with her over a text past the midnight.
Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are one of the 'IT' couples in the Hindi film industry. The couple first met in 2002, and they got married in 2012. Riteish and Genelia often shell out major couple goals out there. Time and again, Riteish and Genelia shared unheard anecdotes about their personal life, and now, the couple revealed a cutesy story when the actor pulled a breakup prank on his wifey, and she was left all depressed.
In an interview on Shreya Godhawat’s YouTube channel, Genelia D’Souza recalled how when they were dating one another, on April Fool’s Day, Riteish pulled a prank. The actress revealed that her then-boyfriend was a late sleeper, while she was the opposite. Genelia added that Riteish sent her a text saying, "We are done" at 1'O clock in the night, indicating their breakup. Genelia revealed that she read the text at 2:30 in the morning and was completely clueless about what might have happened. In Genelia's words:
"When we were dating each other, it was April Fool’s Day, and he sends me a message saying, ‘We’re done’, and he’s gone off to sleep. He used to sleep really late, and I used to sleep early. He sent me this at around 1 in the night, and has fallen asleep. I have read it at 2:30 in the morning, and I am depressed. ‘What went wrong? What is this cheek and audacity?'”
Genelia D’Souza further revealed that she had made herself miserable till 9 am in the morning until Riteish woke up. Genelia shared how Riteish called her the next morning, not remembering what he had done. Genelia told him that they shouldn't talk, and reminded him about the text he had sent her previous night. Well, that's when Riteish explained that he had only done it as it was April Fool's Day. In Genelia's words:
"I have made myself miserable till 9 in the morning. He has woken up, not remembering that he’s done that. So, he’s woken up and called me, ‘Hi, what’s up?’ And I’m like fully, ‘I don’t think we should talk, I don’t want to talk to you’. He said, ‘Why, what went wrong?’ And I said, ‘What went wrong! Are you actually behaving like nothing went wrong?'"
In the same conversation, Genelia D'Souza shared that Riteish also made up for it. Praising her husband, Genelia added how the actor often takes up her job at home, when she's out for work. The actress added that Riteish never made her feel he was doing her job as a homemaker, and he does it wholeheartedly.
Earlier, while conversing on the show, Ladies vs Gentleman season 2, Genelia revealed that she once broke down in tears just one month after her wedding with Riteish. She revealed that she thought she would have to deck up with traditional attire and heavy jewels each day as per the norms of a traditional Marathi family, to which her husband belongs. Well, Genelia decked up each morning, leaving her husband confused. Later, she broke down in tears saying, 'I can't do this anymore', and then Riteish consoled her, stating he was also confused about why she was all decked up every morning.
Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza live a life that is somewhat like a fairytale. Well, the couple had their fair share of hurdles in their relationship. In an interview with Pinkvilla, Genelia credited her husband and revealed that he never fights, and they only fight with each other when she wants to. She added in the first half of their relationship, they used to restrain themselves from opening up fully, but over the years they realised that being transparent to each other can make the bridge between two people even stronger.
