Day 3 at Amby Valley Indian Bridal Week saw some breathtaking bridal couture designs, amongst which, those created by Falguni & Shane Peacock were highly applauded.
The range represented ethnic bridal wear comprising of elegantly designed cholis, full volume lehengas, snug bottom embroidered brocade skirts, sensuous sarees and stylish wedding gowns. It had something for every small and big ceremony that takes place in a quintessentially big, fat Indian wedding. The designer duo did not leave a single bridal color out, thereby making the most optimum use of the every color on the palette.
Extensive use of embroidery, laces and crystals lent dramatic appeal to the designs while feather sprinkled spots made the designs look every bit modern. The cuts were modern while the intricate embroidery remained typically traditional, thus creating a remarkable fusion between tradition and modernity.
There was a profusion of rich free flowing fabric like chiffon, georgette, crape, net, velvet and satin. Brocade was primarily used as part of corset yokes or borders in lehenga and sarees. Cholis/corsets that accompanied lehengas were full sleeved, made of sheer fabrics embellished with crystals and sequins.
The A-line lehenga in lame gold embroidered all over and worn on highly crystal studded jacket style bodice was amongst the main highlights of the show. And so was the dress flaunted by the showstopper for the evening, Neha Dhupia. Her Golden-ivory A-line lehenga, splashed all over with floral motifs of big red roses and encrusted with crystals, is sure to be one of the most sought after designs this Fall/Winter Wedding season.
The best part about the entire collection was that it was very much possible for a bride to flaunt the apparels on her wedding day. Fashion shows in India are notorious for being too innovative, so much so that the masses hardly derive direct inspiration from the designs displayed.
