Govinda To Be Questioned In Rs. 1000 Crore Ponzi Scam, He Is 'Neither A Suspect Nor An Accused'

Bollywood actor, Govinda is leading the headlines after he has been dragged into a legal controversy regarding his promotional videos in Rs. 1000 crore Ponzi scam. As per multiple reports, Govinda will be questioned by the Odisha Economic Offences Wing (EOW) over his involvement in the scam.

Govinda to be questioned in Ponzi Scam

The reports further stated that a company called Solar Techno Alliance (STA-Token) allegedly operated an illicit online scam by posing as a crypto investment venture, through which the company collected unauthorized deposits of over Rs. 1000 crore from around 2 lakh individuals across India without authorization from the Reserve Bank Of India.

Since Govinda reportedly endorsed the company’s promotional videos, he will be questioned. In an interaction with the Times of India, EOW inspector general JN Pankaj said:

“We will soon send a team to Mumbai to question filmstar Govinda, who had attended STA’s grand function in Goa in July and promoted the company in some videos.”

Govinda is neither a suspect nor an accused

Since Govinda reportedly STA functions and promoted the company, his involvement in the scam is yet to be verified. JN Pankaj further stated:

“His exact role in the case can be ascertained only after investigation. If we find that his role was limited to only endorsement of the product (STA-Token brand) as per their business agreement, then we will make him a witness in our case.”

STA has reportedly taken lakhs of money from investors in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Jharkhand and other states. EOW arrested the company’s heads Gurtej Singh Sidhu and Nirod Das on August 7. Bhubaneswar-based investment adviser Ratnakar Palai was also arrested on August 16.

Govinda has not yet announced any official statement regarding his involvement in the case. On the professional front, Govinda was last seen in the 2019 film, Rangeela Raja. He has also judged Zee Bangla’s show, Dance Bangla Dance.
