The Indian cricket team made the entire nation proud as they lifted the T20 World Cup trophy after a glorious tournament where the boys remained undefeated. The playing eleven did not lose a single match in the tournament, and the credit goes to all the players who did exceptionally well. Hardik Pandya is one such player who nailed throughout the series and leveled up his game like no other, and now the cricketer spoke about taking over the captaincy throne from his seniors.

Hardik Pandya opened up about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring from T20I format

Hardik Pandya had a very low phase during the IPL 2024, where people booed and mocked him for taking over captaincy from Rohit Sharma. Well, after a disastrous IPL session, Hardik redeemed himself in the T20 series and turned all his haters into his fans. Talking about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma retiring from the T20 format, Hardik said that he would miss the two legends, but this was the best farewell anyone could get. In Hardik's words:

"I am very happy for both Rohit and Virat...two giants and legends of Indian cricket, who thoroughly deserved this. It has been so amazing playing with them for so many years. We all will miss them but at the same point, this is the best farewell we can give them."

Hardik Pandya talks about being Rohit Sharma's successor 

Soon after Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli announced their retirement, all eyes were on Hardik Pandya as people expected him to take over the captaincy throne and carry forward the legacy. When Hardik was asked about the same, he dodged the topic and said:

"There is a lot of time for 2026."

After IPL 2024, the rumour mills were abuzz with speculation of Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya being at loggerheads. However, Rohit refuted all such claims when he hugged Hardik after winning the T20 World Cup and even consoled and hugged a crying 'Kung Fu Pandya.' The camaraderie between the two ace cricketers was definitely a soothing view for sore eyes.

Hardik Pandya's bhabhi, Pankhuri, stood up for him against his critics

After India won the T20 World Cup 2024, Hardik's bhabhi, Pankhuri, took to her Instagram handle and posted a couple of pictures with her devar. Along with it, she penned a sweet note extending her love and support to her devar, Hardik. She praised the cricketer for staying calm when things were going wrong for him. And Pankhuri also made sure to give it back to people, who booed him during the live match. She wrote:

"We are so so proud of you Hardik!!!! I'm running short of words when it comes to this day. So proud of the way u carried yourself through all the things that were going against you, to standing the tallest and strongest amongst it. And to all the people who said things about you - well BOO to you too!"
