Hardik Pandya's Watches Worth Rs. 5 Crores Seized At The Airport? Issues A Clarification Statement

According to reports, Hardik Pandya's watches worth Rs. 5 crores are seized by the Mumbai airport. The cricketer now issued a statement.

Indian cricketer, Hardik Pandya hails from a middle-class family, and despite all the odds, his story of rags to riches is highly inspiring. His dedication towards cricket has, over the years, made him one of the most important players in the Indian cricket team. With controversies striking at Hardik’s door every now and then, he certainly knows how to stir clear of them. As a new controversy around Hardik struck in, the cricketer immediately issued a statement, clarifying his role.

Talking about Hardik Pandya’s personal life, the year 2020 was truly his year as he had not just got an acclaimation for his game, but had also found his 'Mrs Right' in Natasa Stankovic. On the first day of 2020, Hardik had proposed to Natasa on a yacht with a beautiful diamond ring. And within a few months, he had shared the news of his intimate wedding with Natasa, and later, they were blessed with a baby boy, Agastya Pandya.

Coming back to the controversy, the officials of the Mumbai Customs Department seized two wristwatches from cricketer, Hardik Pandya as he was returning from Dubai on Monday morning. According to the department, Hardik did not have the bill receipt of the luxury watches and it was reported that the cost of them was Rs. 5 crores.

A while back, Hardik Pandya issued a statement, denying the claims that the watches cost Rs. 5 crores and also mentioned that all the documents were submitted to the customs department. Stating that he went to the department voluntarily to declare about the items he brought, Hardik wrote in his statement:

“Early on Monday morning, 15th November, on my arrival from Dubai, after picking up my luggage, I voluntarily went to Mumbai airport customs counter to declare the items brought by me and pay the requisite customs duty."

Hardik further mentioned that he was ready to pay customs duties for his purchases. He also mentioned that he has submitted the purchase documents already. He added:

“I had voluntarily declared all the items that I'd lawfully purchased from Dubai and was ready to pay whatever duties that needed to be paid. As a matter of fact, the customs department had asked for all purchase documents which were submitted; however customs is doing proper valuation for duty which I've already confirmed to pay.”

Mentioning that the cost of the watch is around Rs. 1.5 crore and not Rs. 5 crores as the rumours are surrounding on social media, Hardik concluded:

“The cost of the watch is approximately Rs 1.5 crore and not Rs 5 crores as per rumours floating around in social media. I’m a law-abiding citizen of the country and I respect all government agencies. I’ve received all cooperation from the Mumbai customs department and I’ve assured my full cooperation to them and will provide them with whatever legitimate documents they need to get this matter cleared."
