Harshdeep Kaur recalled Ranveer Singh being in awe of her version of, 'Ik Onkar' and asking her to perform the same on his wedding day with Deepika Padukone.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh got married in a low-key wedding soiree at Lake Como, Italy. The duo's wedding was no less than a fairy tale. While the photos from the same often leave everyone's jaws dropped, it took the couple more than 5 years to release their wedding clip, which seemed straight out of a fairy tale novel. Recently, singer Harshdeep Kaur recalled singing at the duo's wedding and how it was the then-groom-to-be, Ranveer, who requested the singer to sing the prayer, Ik Onkar, at his wedding.
In a recent interview with The Music Podcast, Harshdeep Kaur talked about her collaboration with AR Rahman. She talked about her first encounter with the music composer and added that it was a dream for her. Harshdeep went on to reveal how she had gotten a chance to sing in the chorus for the movie, Kisna, where AR Rahman lent his voice. After the same, she got another opportunity to perform the prayer, Ik Onkar. She recalled how she carried a book to describe the depth of the prayer to the music maestro. Well, it was 4 in the morning when Harsheep performed the payer, and it was a surreal feeling for her as she felt that God was standing by her.
In the same interview, Harshdeep Kaur shared that it was Ranveer Singh who was in awe of the prayer, Ik Onkar. Talking more about the same, the singer stated that Ranveer had called her and said that he had listened to her version of Ik Onkar every morning, and thus, he wants her to sing the same on the special day of his life, i.e. at his wedding with Deepika Padukone. In Harshdeep Kaur's words:
"Ranveer is a huge fan of this prayer. He called me and said, ‘I listen to your voice every morning, and on the most important day of my life, I want you there, singing “Ik Onkar.”
Just like they kept their relationship hidden for six years, Ranveer and Deepika got married in a private affair. The duo's whole wedding was planned by the ace wedding planner Vandana Mohan of The Wedding Design Company. Deepika and Ranveer got married in Konkani and Sindhi ceremonies, and the glimpses of the same were so dreamy that they still make our hearts skip a beat. The couple had an extravagant wedding with only 30-40 guests, and following the same, they had a couple of lavish reception parties arranged for their acquaintances.
Deepika and Ranveer opted for Sabyasachi Mukherjee's outfits for their D-day. It was the designer, who once revealed some details about the couple's intimate wedding soiree, which he called an amalgamation of culture and sophistication. Sabyasachi also shared that he never had the kind of food that he had at DeepVeer's wedding, and the actress took 12 food testing before their wedding took place.
