Uttar Pradesh's Hathras is once again in the headlines after several people lost their lives at popular spiritual leader, Narayan Sakaar Hari, aka Bhole Baba's satsang. It was on July 2, 2024, when 2.5 lakh people gathered at Bhole Baba's satsang, while the organisers had permission to allow only 80,000 people. After the satsang was over, people rushed out of the venue and due to the uncontrollable crowd, several people died on the spot.

Hathras stampede case: 121 devotees died at spiritual leader, Narayan Sakaar Hari, aka Bhole Baba's satsang

As of July 3, 2024, 121 people have been officially dead, while around 28 devotees have been admitted to the hospital. Soon after the incident, an FIR was filed against the organisers, who failed to manage the crowd. The unfortunate incident has shaken the entire state, and once again, the conversation around the impact of spiritual gurus in India has started. Samajwadi Party's Dimple Yadav, Bajrang Dal's Chandrashekhar Azad and Uttar Pradesh's Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, also visited the victims' families of the Hathras stampede.

Who is Narayan Sakaar Hari, aka Bhole Baba, in whose satsang nearly 121 devotees died due to stampede

Amidst all the updates about the death toll of the Hathras stampede accident and the announcement of financial assistance for the deceased families, people are curious to know more about the spiritual leader, Narayan Sakaar Hari, aka Bhole Baba.

For the uninitiated, Narayan Sakaar Hari is extremely popular in western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. Unlike other spiritual leaders in India, he is not active on social media and maintains a low-key profile in public. Interestingly, Bhole Baba is extremely popular among people from the grassroot levels.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of people used to attend Bhole Baba's satsang, which is the stature of his popularity in different states at the ground level. Another interesting thing about Narayan Sakaar Hari is that he mostly wears white clothes, unlike other Hindu religious leaders, who prefer saffron-hued clothes.

Narayan Sakaar Hari, aka Bhole Baba, reportedly worked in the International Bureau (IB) before becoming a spiritual leader

However, not everyone is aware of the fact that before becoming a spiritual leader, Narayan Sakaar Hari reportedly worked in the intelligence department, the Intelligence Bureau (IB). Although there are no official traces of the same, the spiritual leader has self-proclaimed that he worked in IB 25 years ago, before he got his spiritual calling. As per a report in India Today, Narayan Sakaar Hari is also renowned by the name, Suraj Pal.

Narayan Sakaar Hari identifies himself as a disciple of Lord Vishnu

Hailing from Uttar Pradesh, Narayan Sakaar Hari was born in Bahadur Nagar village in the Patiyali tehsil of Kasganj district. Courtesy of his birthplace, he runs an ashram by the name, Bahadur Nagari Dham.

As per a report in India Today, Narayan Sakaar considers himself as a disciple of Lord Vishnu. Not only this, but during his satsang sessions, he had convinced his followers that Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva have acknowledged him as their guru.

There are numerous YouTube videos in which young content creators laud Narayan Sakaar Hari not as a godman but as a God. While some claim that he cured a person suffering from a deadly disease, another YouTuber claim he paid a poor person a loan of Rs. 4 lakh. Although there is no evidence of the claims made in YouTube videos, the devotees have faith in Bhole Baba and never miss a chance to attend his satsang. As per multiple reports, Narayan Sakaar Hari has been missing since the unfortunate stampede incident happened in Hathras during his satsang. Although there are no charges against him in the FIR, but his sudden disappearance from the scene has raised a lot of eyebrows. It will be interesting to see how the spiritual guru is going to react to the heartbreaking tragedy.
