How to make clove oil

Although, you can get clove oil from the market, but making the oil at home is a better option. Why? Well, because it’s 100% natural and pocket-friendly. So let’s get started.

You will need:

  1. 2 tbsp cloves
  2. 200ml of olive oil
  3. Pan for sautéing 
  4. Bottle for infusing and storing (sterilised)
  5. Mortar and pestle
  6. Funnel (optional)
  7. Cheesecloth

Method:

  1. Saute cloves in a pan and then grind them into a fine powder using mortar and pestle.
  2. Transfer the clove powder on cheesecloth and tie it. Now, pour olive oil in the jar and then dip the tied cheesecloth and close the lid. Make sure the bundle is completely immersed in the oil.
  3. Alternatively, you can also put the clove powder directly in the jar and pour sufficient amount of oil in it.
  4. In both the cases, leave the mixture for at least two weeks or more depending upon how strong or light oil you want. 
  5. Now, just strain the mixture into a clean and dry bottle and use it within a month. 

Isn’t making clove oil at home easy? We bet it is! Although, olive oil is best for making clove oil, in case you have some sort of aversion for olive oil, then you can also use coconut oil or sunflower oil.

Be it fungal infections, wounds, cuts or insect bites, clove oil can be used to treat all these problems as it is loaded with antiseptic properties. However, do not use the oil directly. Mix almond, olive or coconut oil to dilute the solution. And also, do not use this oil in case you have sensitive skin as it may cause burns.
