Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial, 'Heeramandi', is a story of love and powerful women. However, it is the price of the designer outfits that will leave your jaws dropped.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali's directorial film, Heeramandi is a much-anticipated web series on Netflix. It is a multi-starrer series, featuring Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Sharmin Segal, Shekhar Suman, Fardeen Khan, Adhyayan Suman, and Taha Shah Badhussha. The series is all set to release on May 1, 2024, and as we all await its grand launch, we are already mesmerised by the outfits of the actresses.
Just like Sanjay Leela Bhansali's other films that reflect India's rich culture, Heeramandi will also showcase unique songs and outfits that will leave every jaw-dropped. Talking about the outfits, designer duo, Rimple and Harpreet have designed 300 outfits over the last two years for the project. For those who don't know, Rimple and Harpreet also designed lehengas for Padmavat. Recently, they designed the looks of the 14 Miss World finalists.

While the exact cost of the designer's outfits has not yet been disclosed, it is estimated to be around Rs. 2-3 crores. It is reported that the designer duo's lehengas are around. Rs. 2-8 lakhs. On the other hand, anarkali sets are around Rs. 1-3.5 lakhs and sarees are between Rs 2-3 lakhs. The couple revealed that they could resonate with the theme as their family comes from Gujranwala in Punjab, and they have grown-up hearings stories about that time from their grandparents and aunts.
The designer outfits includes huge skirts with fitted bodice cholis, and structured jackets that depict the status of the woman in the society. Rimple and Harpreet revealed that they might not go back in the time, but their outfits will definitely take people back in the era in artistic way. They were quoted as saying:
“Our design ethos is deeply rooted in our cultural heritage and personal experiences, particularly our connection to Punjab and our family’s history in Gujranwala. Growing up surrounded by the stories and anecdotes of that time, shared by our grandmothers and aunts, has deeply influenced our creative vision. While we may not be able to physically visit that era, these narratives provide us with a unique opportunity to interpret and reimagine the past in our artistic way.”
According to the designer duo, Rimple and Harpreet, the bridal trend in 2024 will hugely change after the release of their web series, Heeramandi. The couple have worked day and night for the past two years. Rimple and Harpreet stated that brides will start opting for richer colours including purple, emerald green and sapphire blue.
