Hema Malini showed off her 'nritya kala' to celebrate 'Mirabai Janmotsav' at the Braj Raj Utsav Mathura 2023, and PM Modi graced the event.
Hema Malini is a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, and while she has stopped acting, her love for nritya (dance) never stopped, and even at the age of 75, she continues to perform on stage. The veteran actress also made her daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol, trained Odissi dancers. Recently, Hema Malini performed a dance-drama on the 525th Janmotsav of Sant Mirabai in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the three-day Braj Raj Utsav Mathura 2023 event.
For those who don't know, Mirabai is one of the biggest devotees of Lord Krishan. She was so much in love with him that she abandoned the royal palace to embark on the spiritual journey. She found solace in Lord Krishan, while her in-laws plotted against her and even tried to kill her, it was Krishan, who saved her. Celebrating her life, Hema Malini presented a one-and-a-half hour-long dance drama based on her life.

From a young age, Hema Malini loved Indian classical dance, it is like everyday puja for her. Hema Malini never really shared glimpses of her personal life or home, it was Esha Deol, who gave a tour of Hema Malini's gorgeous home. The actress showed their sacred place, their dance hall, where the mommy-daughter duo do their dance rehearsals, and hear movie narrations and Hema Malini hosts her get-togethers. It is a beautiful hall with wooden flooring that is perfect for dancers to practice. The hall has beautiful vibes with orange and yellow tones, and carpets that give out vintage vibes.
The room is also decorated with a lot of portraits of Hema Malini, and her daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol. The family is highly spiritual, and they make sure to include the idols of Ganpati Bappa, Krishna and Maa Durga.
