Himani Shivpuri Recalls Leaving Her Son To Her Parents' House Due To Work After Husband's Death

Veteran actress, Himani Shivpuri recalled the difficult time in her life when she had to leave her son to her parents' house after her husband's demise.

Veteran actress, Himani Shivpuri is one of the most popular faces in the entertainment industry. She has left everyone swooned with her acting prowess over the years. The actress was seen in numerous movies and serials. Some of her best movies include Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham.., Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Hum Saath-Saath Hain, among so many others. Himani's journey as an actress has also been inspiring, but it was in the year 1995 that she faced a major setback after her husband, Gyan Shivpuri passed away.

Himani Shivpuri recalls leaving her son, Katyayan, in her parents' home after her husband's demise

When Himani Shivpuri's husband passed away, then, she thought about giving up on her acting career and taking care of her son, Katyayan Shivpuri, but she held onto it and won the battles of life. In a recent interview, the actress revealed how difficult it was to be separated from her child to fulfil her work commitments. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the host asked if it was difficult for the actress to leave her kid and work.

Himani Shivpuri shares how difficult it was for her to stay away from her son

Himani Shivpuri shared that was extremely difficult to leave her child in Dehradun, Uttarakhand to her parents and set out for work. The actress mentioned that there had been a lot of times when she used to miss her son way too much. She recalled a time, when her son, Katyayan became ill, and she had no information about it. Himani stated that her parents didn't let her know about her son's health, and for the same, she even fought with her mom.

Himani mentioned that she was busy shooting in some different location then, and her parents didn't want to make her tense by giving her information about his son's illness. Himani also added that she used to miss her son during his birthdays and couldn't call whenever she wanted to, as there were no mobile phones back then. Himani further added that it's all just part and parcel of life.

Earlier, in an interview with the IANS, Himani stated that she wanted to give up on her career after her husband passed away, as she used to feel bad about leaving her kid at home. However, due to financial crunches, she was left with no options but to juggle between personal and professional life.

Himani gave an example of how she managed her work-life balance. She shared that she even breastfed her son on the train, just after doing the show, or there were times when, just before her performance, she had to rush to the restroom to express the milk, so it's not always easy for women. Himani said:

"It is difficult to forget the stress and difficulty of those days, rushing to the restroom before performances to express the milk so the costume didn’t get wet. The point is that women rarely have it easy, whether at home or work. But I learnt to never give up and always stand up against all the odds of life."
