Honey Singh revealed to Rhea Chakraborty that he was a mental patient and shared insights into his fight with bipolar disorder.
Honey Singh has no shame in admitting that he had been suffering from bipolar disorder. He has been one of the stars who has tried to be vocal about his mental health, just like Deepika Padukone and Selena Gomez, to name a few. Now, Yo-Yo revealed to actress, Rhea Chakraborty that he has no shame in admitting that, to date, he is a mental patient.
The singer-rapper would be soon seen as a guest on Rhea's podcast titled Chapter 2. The actress shared a teaser clip of the same on January 15, 2024. They spoke in depth on the topic of bipolar disorder where Honey Singh shared that he was going through a tough time dealing with his mental condition. The full episode would come out on January 17, 2024. Honey told Rhea:
"Main itne in-depth gaya hua itna kharab case hoon bi-polar disorder ka. Ek mental patient hoon main aaj bhi."
Rhea further spoke about Honey's documentary titled Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous. She said she had tears of happiness and sadness after watching the docu-film. She also thanked the rapper for 'surviving' to which Honey Singh said, "Akbar The Great is meeting Alexander The Great. Two fighters are meeting." Chapter 2 has had guests like Aamir Khan, Sushmita Sen, Farhan Akhtar, Tanmay Bhatt and Zakir Khan among many more.
Earlier, during an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Honey shared about his health issues and how he was struggling a lot to make his mark and do his comeback. The singer shared that when he got ill, a lot was going on in his life. In Honey Singh's words:
"There was a tour with Shah Rukh Khan, a show with Star Plus that I had worked on for a year; I had named it ‘Raw Star’. I was also doing a film in Punjabi. Lots of things were happening.”
Honey also revealed when he collapsed on the sets of Raw Star and started to have psychotic symptoms, he was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Honey added he realised something was wrong with his brain, something had happened to it. He wanted to rectify it, but his family claimed that he was bound by contract and would get sued. It would be a huge loss. However, the rapper did not care as he had to fix his mental health. He also said:
"My songs were a hit but people were not accepting me."
It was in December 2023 when Yo Yo Honey Singh: Famous was released on Netflix and revolved around the life of the rapper. It was directed by Mozez Singh and was produced by Sikhya Entertainment. The premiere of the same took place on December 20, 2023, and showed an unseen glimpse into the life of the rapper. Honey Singh created a household name for himself with Brown Rang, Angrezi Beat, and Dope Shope, to name a few.
