In an interview with a leading daily, Hrithik was recently quoted as saying, "In my father’s generation, a man was taught that masculinity meant being a rock. That a father is someone who is very strong and never expresses his vulnerability. Tears, we were taught, are feminine. But being a student of life, I have learned that strength does not mean the absence of tears. I realised that my dad had held way too much inside of him, and I felt it was unhealthy. Having been through all that he has, one day I pushed him to express what he has been feeling."

The Super 30 actor further added, "And I could see how impossible it was for him to let go of that strength. But eventually one day, he broke down completely. I hugged him and we both let the tears flow. Ironically, even at that time he was switching between breaking down on my shoulder and consoling me as a strong father. We all felt so much stronger after that release. We must learn to express ourselves as human beings openly. Not just the popular emotions, but all emotions." (Checkout: Hrithik Roshan Finally Reacts To Sister, Sunaina Roshan's Love Controversy, Says They Are Helpless)

Got diagnosed with early-stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. Of late, in an interview with the Mid-Day, Rakesh himself had opened up about his health update and was quoted as saying, “All is okay. I am fine. Surgery is done and all is fine. God is great. I am going to be back home on Friday or Saturday.” Later, Hrithik had taken to his Twitter handle and had posted a buoyant picture along with the caption that could be read as, “And he’s up and about. Power of love! Thank you all for being with him and helping him power through. Today was a great day.” (Do Read: Bipasha Basu And Karan Singh Grover's 'Pujo Twinning' Is Making Us Crush On Them All Over Again)

In a throwback 2012 interview with Filmfare, Rakesh ji had shared interesting details about his and Hrithik’s relationship. He had then revealed, “I wanted to give it [Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai] the scale it deserved. The music of the film seemed promising. Hrithik and Ameesha Patel had done well. I knew the movie wouldn’t let me down. So, I didn’t hold myself back. Because Hrithik gives me time I can tap new genres. No one would have made Koi... Mil Gaya (2003) after Kaho Naa... People said I was mad to make Hrithik play a mentally challenged character. I’m also proud of Kites (2010). We attempted something new – crossover cinema!”

Further speaking about his son’s diligence, Rakesh ji had stated, “Even when he assisted me, he took a keen interest in filmmaking. He never flaunted his status. He stayed with the unit and not in a five-star hotel with us. He has seen my failures. He knows that in the long run it’s only hard work that pays. If you don’t attend a party it won’t matter, but if you don’t deliver it will. I got married at 22. My older daughter Sunaina was born when I was 23. I was 24 when Hrithik was born. I understand what he wishes to say from a mere glance.” (Don't Miss: Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya Slams Media For Insensitive Reporting On Hubby, Vivek Dahiya's Health)
