In an interview, Huma Qureshi opened up about facing immense body shaming from people. She also mentioned how people used to ask her to undergo liposuction and whatnot.
Huma Qureshi is one of the finest actresses in the Hindi film industry. She has already proved her mettle in acting in the films like Gangs Of Wasseypur, Badlapur, Ek Thi Daayan, Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, Monica, O My Darling, and many more. She was last seen in the ZEE5 film, Tarla, a biopic on the iconic food writer, Tarla Dalal. However, in a candid conversation, Huma also opened up about facing immense body shaming in the initial period of her acting career and what mean comments were passed on to her.
In a conversation with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Huma Qureshi recalled how she was subjected to body shaming during the initial phase of her acting career. She mentioned being subjected to the same before the actress finally opened her mouth and addressed the same on magazine covers. Huma also revealed her feeling of pulling out the old articles and bringing up what all was written about her. Recalling the dark phase of her life due to this, she was quoted as saying:
"This is what you do to a young person who is trying to make it in her 20s."

In the same conversation, Huma recalled about facing mean things written about her body in various articles. She mentioned that earlier, she used to find articles on 'What is she wearing', 'Look at her knees and her calves', 'Zooming on certain body parts and circling them', and many more. Although, she was quite acquainted with hearing about losing weight from parents and friends while growing up in Mumbai, but it was difficult for her to bear all this on a regular basis. Thus, when she used to read all this, the actress used to question herself about her beauty and whether she really needed to change it or not.
Further, Huma mentioned how people often asked her to lose weight or undergo liposuction surgery. Not only that, one film reviewer once mentioned, "She's such a lovely fine actress with a beautiful face, but maybe she's 5 kgs too heavy to be a mainstream heroine." And after reading this review, Huma felt extremely sad and was sobbing.

Although, Huma got her first break early in her life with the film, Gangs of Wasseypur. However, she was given no luxurious treatment for the same. Moreover, she was paid only Rs. 75,000 for the film. Thus, she felt lost and insecure when the film became a box office hit in 2012. In the same conversation, she revealed:
“I got my first brush with success pretty early on. Maybe it was just this enthusiasm of getting out of the house and being (an actor) and then Gangs of Wasseypur happened. By 2010 I moved to Mumbai and by 2012 the film was out and it became this big hit in India. My world just exploded. This was a film where they paid me some Rs 75,000, that’s it…I am working with them (Viacom 18) now, they are my producers. But that was my first film and it wasn’t a fancy affair. There were no five-star hotels, cushioning of vanity vans or an army of people (following you). It was like a bunch of people, who went to Varanasi for three months, shot and came back. Nobody had any clue what was happening. So when it came out, I was like, ‘Whoa! I am the lead in the film? My face is on the hoarding?! Should I have gotten paid more for it? Is this how movies get made?'”
