Imran Khan's Wedding With Avantika Malik

Another heartthrob of the nation is set to get hitched. The chocolaty-eyed nephew (Imran) of the chocolate hero of the Indian film industry (Aamir Khan) will marry his long time girlfriend Avantika Malik under a Special Marriage Act on January 10, 2011. The wedding celebrations are already underway and even as this is being written, the tinsel town of Bollywood is gearing up for a Mehendi and Pre-wedding Party at the family farmhouse at Karjat, situated on the fringes of the city of Mumbai.

The Mehendi party is actually a Carnival with lots of fun, frolic and exciting activities planned to keep the guests entertained throughout. The wedding card is already making headlines in the Page 3 media. It is designed by Uttara Shah, one of the best wedding invitation designers in the city. In keeping with the black and silver theme of the wedding, the wedding card is actually a set of two boxes in black and silver. While the one box carries chocolates, the other one has a personalized planner that spells out the invitation details in an innovative manner.

There’s a pinwheel attached to the planner, signifying the invitation to the mehendi carnival. After the registered marriage in the court of January 10, the couple’s family will hold a dinner reception in Taj Land’s End in Mumbai. The wording on the invitation gives ample hint that the stage is set for high volume party. The ladies are specially advised to refrain from high heel stilettos and to instead go for block heels.

This is not it! A grander beach side wedding bash will take place in Phuket with family and friends. Imran and Avantika’s couture for different functions and ceremonies have been designed by the ace couturiers in the country, such as Manish Malhotra, Varun Bahal, Shantanu and Nikhil Mehra. Sabyasachi designs will grace the mother of the groom and his aunt Kiran Rao.

Family chefs from Lucknow have been flown in to prepare the grand feast for the carnival. These chefs have been in the family for more than five decades. The menu comprises such delectable foods as kormas, kababs, rolls, biryani and other mouth watering Mughlai delicacies.
