Imran Khan's ex-wife, Avantika Malik, opens up on the 'golden couple' being separated

Imran and Avantika were the first love of each other. The childhood lovers turned into the power couple of Bollywood and made us believe that true love does exist. However, their fans' hopes came crashing down when the former pair fell apart. Avantika sat down in an interview with Janice Sequeira for The Healing Circle: Divorce Is Not a Dirty Word and shared how even the strongest love stories can carry chapters no one sees. She shared that it was not from a stigma perspective of her and Imran separating. In her words:

"It was more than this golden perfect couple and their fall from grace. These two, who were so in love, always together and so happy and made it work through thick and thin and all, they threw it in the town. You know what I am trying to say. I felt that I had disappointed everybody in my life. Again, not from the perspective of divorce is bad, not because of the 'D' word but more because arey if you guys couldn't make it work matlab yeh toh problem hi hai. "

Avantika further confessed that it was that kind of thing, and it took her a very long time to not carry that responsibility, that disappointment and kind of understand that look, it is just two people growing apart.

Avantika Malik reveals divorce is not the worst thing

Going ahead, in the interview, Avantika had earlier shared that she feels divorce is not the worst thing in the world, but she admits that she was convinced that she could not stay away from Imran like even for a day. She confessed to not knowing to even book flight tickets and was not even financially independent. This was because it was during the pandemic that she and Imran separated. Avantika also agreed on being a child of divorce and also having 'daddy issues' in her bonds. She added:

"It’s just two people growing apart, it’s not the worst thing in the world. I would feel that if my marriage broke, I would die. I felt that I would not survive one day without this guy. I was convinced that I will die. The day we decided that this is it, I wept like there had been a death in the immediate family. I was petrified, because I was also not earning at that time. I’m aware that I come from a lot of privilege and that I will not be on the road.”
