In a recent interview, Imran Khan talked about his decision to leave behind his career mid-way which was related to many monetary discomforts. However, now he is set to venture into new things.
Imran Khan stepped into the acting field with the film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. With his debut film in Bollywood, Imran not only gained immense popularity, but his performance also etched a beautiful place in millions of hearts. After working for a few years in Bollywood, he left behind his career and made an exit. But till today, his fans are impatiently waiting for the actor to return to the big screen.
Now, in a recent interview with Film Companion, Imran Khan opened up about his departure from Bollywood. He cited his discomfort with the sole focus on the financial success of any film, including publicity, endorsements, and appearance. Moreover, he explained how these monetary concerns at the time of his film, Katti Batti, played a crucial role while he took the decision to step back from his acting career. However, he also mentioned that it wasn't an abrupt decision but rather a gradual realisation when he came in his thirties. Fast forward to now, Imran revealed his wish to venture into new facets of life, realising that he is now in a better position financially.

Coming to his personal life, Imran was earlier married to his childhood friend, Avantika Malik and the couple was blessed with a baby girl, Imara. However, Avantika and Imran separated in 2019, and afterwards, he came into a relationship with Lekha Washington. In the same conversation, Imran Khan also made a shocking revelation. He opened up about his minimalistic lifestyle and revealed why he left his grandfather, Nasir Hussain's palatial Bandra bungalow following his separation from Avantika Malik. It was the first time that Imran talked about moving out of his grandfather's bungalow. He revealed:
“For the past five years, just from the time I separated, I moved into this space where I've lived for the past 5 years. I started by moving into what was an empty space. And I started bringing things into my space, basis my requirement."
In the same conversation, Imran talked about his new way of embracing his life with simplicity. He mentioned that after his exit from his grandfather's mansion, he entered a completely vacant place. Thus, he thought of incorporating some basic necessities into his life at that time, and that included a TV, a couch, and three plates. However, he is currently finding joy in managing his own space and daily tasks. The actor shared:
"It was about separating from those external trappings. The things which you're told you want and you start to believe that. And it was about knowing what do I actually get happiness from. I found it to be a much easier existence these past few years. I wanted my own space."

Imran further added that he cleans his own place with a vacuum cleaner and does his dishes, too. Elaborating on his choice, he shared, "I wanted to run and manage it on my own. Again, that was from a sense of, ‘Can I do all of this stuff without getting into the external trappings?" Speaking more about the same, Imran revealed that while he cooks breakfast, his mother provides him with the other meals of the day. Moreover, he shared that he cuts his own hair and termed it as a “borderline pathological” behaviour.
