Imran Khan Shares How He Would React If A Teacher Ever Raises Hand On His Daughter, 'I'd See Red...'

Imran Khan recently opened up about his professional and personal lives in an interview. During the interaction, he talked about the Indian educational system.

Imran Khan is back in the limelight after he decided to take a hiatus around 2015 following a series of box-office failures. While away from the celluloid, the 41-year-old actor has been very active on his social media, often sharing updates about his life. It's still not known if Imran will be seen in a movie sometime in the future, but the actor has kept his fans elated by appearing in several interviews.

Imran Khan talks about schooling in India

Recently, Imran Khan appeared on We Are Yuvaa's YouTube talk show, Be A Man Yaar, and spoke at length about various facets of his professional and personal life. During the conversation, the 41-year-old touched upon the topic of parenting. For the uninitiated, Imran Khan co-parents daughter, Imara with his former wife, Avantika Malik.

While talking, the actor shared his thoughts on Indian education systems and reminisced about the time when he was in school. Imran Khan revealed that he had studied in a number of schools including Bombay Scottish. Talking about how schools believed that behaviours could be corrected by caning, Imran Khan said:

"I have been to a number of schools. I started off in Bombay Scottish in Bombay. At that point, they believed that all behaviour could be corrected with caning. So, you wear the wrong colour socks to school? Caning! You forgot to bring a book to school? Caning! You haven’t done your homework? Guess what? Still more caning! The regularity with which the teachers used to beat us had really started to get to me."

Imran Khan shares he could commit murder if someone raises a hand on his daughter

Further in the conversation, Imran Khan mentioned that he won't be able to handle himself if even someone raises a hand on his daughter. He said he could go to the extent of murdering someone if he ever saw anyone physically assaulting his child. He was quoted as saying:

"As I think about it today, I was an eight-year-old, nine-year-old kid. Younger than my own daughter. And, if I imagined a teacher today to raise their hand and hit my child, I would see red. I would be driven possibly to commit murder, to witness someone assaulting my child like that. So, yeah, I was not able to manage the school system."

Imran, who advocates for mental health, added that being a parent helped him improve himself. He shared his thoughts, saying that he always wanted to be the best father, and in order to do so, he had to be well from within. Hence, he pushed himself to get better mentally.

Imran Khan shares parenting advice

Further, when the host asked the actor to share the best parenting advice he has ever received, Imran mentioned that people should treat their children as human beings. The actor explained his answer by saying that people need to treat the children just as they would treat any other adult human being; just because they are small, that doesn't mean they cannot have autonomy. He said:

"The best parenting advice I got, which I try to inculcate in myself, is that we tend to look at children as somehow less than human. We think that because they are small, they don’t understand anything. You know, people don’t respect children’s autonomy. So yeah, treat a child as you would treat another human being."

Imran Khan talks about his divorce from Avantika Malik

Apart from sharing his experience of becoming a parent and parenting advice, Imran Khan also talked about his divorce from his former wife, Avantika Malik. While conversing, the actor emphasised that he doesn't feel shame and stigma around it, and it was a choice that he made because he understood that they were in a place where they weren’t enabling and empowering each other to be the strongest and best versions of themselves.

Further continuing his chain of thoughts, Imran said that two people binding themselves to each other for life only makes sense when the partners are content and supportive of one another and leave no possibility for negotiation. Meanwhile, Imran gave his current girlfriend, Lekha Washington, a shoutout, stating that they got into a relationship "consciously," wanting to "evolve, grow, and heal."
