In a recent interview, Imran Khan talked about his minimalistic way of life post quitting acting. He also disclosed if he rented Karan Johar's apartment and moved in with GF, Lekha Washington.
Imran Khan debuted in Bollywood with the 2008 romcom, Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na, and immediately won the hearts of the audience. Later on, he went on to star in films like I Hate Luv Stories, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Delhi Belly, and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, among many others. Unfortunately, his films tanked at the box office one after the other, and this led to Imran taking a hiatus from the industry. However, in 2023, the actor hinted at his comeback, but there has been no confirmation on the same yet.
Recently, in an interview with Film Companion, the actor talked about the minimalistic lifestyle that he opted for after leaving the entertainment industry. Imran left his opulent Pali Hill bungalow and moved into a small apartment in Bandra. He recalled shifting to his new home five years ago, around the same time he divorced his former wife, Avantika Malik. The actor mentioned that he moved into an empty flat and started buying only necessary stuff. In his words:
"For the past five years, just from the time I separated, I moved into this space where I’ve lived for the past 5 years. I started by moving into what was basically an empty space. I started bringing things into the space based on my requirements. I had a television because I like to watch movies, and I had a sofa. And then, bit by bit, I started to bring in things only based on what I actually need. It was about knowing what do I actually get happiness from. I found it to be a much easier existence these past few years. I wanted my own space,I wanted to run and manage it on my own."

Imran further added that he does not have any live-in staff and only a person comes in every other day to do the heavy cleaning. Moreover, the actor also shared that he opted for a three-plate policy, one per meal—breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Hence, there would be less mess to manage. During the same interaction, Imran revealed that he is still negotiating with his girlfriend, Lekha, about the three-plate policy, and said that they are still trying to come to a middle ground.
In March 2024, reports surfaced in the media claiming that Imran Khan had taken Karan Johar’s former 3-storey apartment in Bandra on rent and would be paying Rs 9 lakh monthly. The reports also stated that the actor had moved into the new place along with his ladylove and actress, Lekha Washington. In the recent interview with Film Companion, when he was questioned about the same, Imran laughed it off and said:
"Again, it’s one of those things that I have never fully been able to wrap my head around. The notion of celebrity and fame and the idea that people follow you around literally and report on you and comment on you and all of that. I’ve always found it to be a little odd."

For those who don't know, Imran recently confirmed his relationship with Lekha. He clarified during an interview with Vogue India that after he parted ways from his former wife, after which he got into a relationship with the actress. Imran also revealed that the two got closer during the lockdown. In his words:
"The speculation that I’m romantically involved with Lekha Washington is true. I’m divorced and have been separated since February 2019. Lekha and I grew close during the lockdown, a year and a half after I had been separated from Avantika and almost a year after she had separated from her partner, not husband, as it has been widely reported. There’s this narrative of Lekha being a homewrecker, which infuriates me, because not only is it misogynistic but it also takes away my agency as an individual."
