The terrorist attack was so inhuman and brutal that a total of 175 people had lost their lives in the massacre. It was the ordinary night of November 26, 2008, when Indian business tycoon, Gautam Adani was having dinner at Mumbai's iconic luxury hotel, Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, and soon the night had changed into one of the darkest nights in the history of India. The hotel was under attack after some Pakistani terrorists had entered the hotel's premises and had killed over 160 people.
The industrialist had hidden in the basement with staff members and many other guests, who were also present in the hotel that night. According to reports, Gautam Adani was having dinner with the CEO of Dubai Port, Mohammed Sharaf, at the famous Weather Craft restaurant.
Gautam Adani and Mohammed Sharaf were having a meeting at the hotel and since they were sitting on a higher floor of the hotel's building, it was Gautam, who had seen a group of terrorists firing rounds at people and throwing grenades indiscriminately inside the hotel. After which, the businessman had quickly informed the staff about it. After which, the hotel's staff had safely moved the guests to the basement. However, in order to relocate Gautam Adani and other guests safely to the basement, some of the members of the hotel's staff had sacrificed their lives. Soon the basement had started suffocating, and the hotel staff had shifted the guests to the chamber area, a floor above the basement.

The businessman, Gautam Adani had spent the entire night of November 26, 2008, in the basement and chamber area of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel. However, on November 27, 2008, Gautam and all the other people, who were stuck inside the hotel were rescued at 8:45 a.m. with the help of the National Security Guard (NSG). After getting out of the hotel, Gautam had immediately left for his home in Ahmedabad in his private aircraft. After he had landed in Ahmedabad when reporters had asked him to reflect on the things he had gone through, the industrialist had said:
"I saw death at a distance of just 15 feet".

In another interview with a leading news portal, Gautam Adani was asked to recall the emotions he had experienced while he was stuck inside the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Answering this, Gautam had admitted that he, along with over 100 people, was constantly praying for their lives. He had also added that he was in close contact with his family in Ahmedabad during the entire evacuation process. Recalling the scary incident, he had said:
"We were over 100 and everybody was praying for his life. Some had hidden below the sofa while others had taken similar evasive position. Sitting on a Sofa, I was telling them to have faith in God. Simultaneously I was also talking to my distressed family in Ahmedabad and my driver and commando who was in my car outside the hotel."
For the unversed, Gautam Adani and his wife, Priti Adani are blessed with two kids, Jeet Adani and Karan Adani.
