We are talking about Indian Army Major Shashidharan Nair and his wife, Trupti Nair, whose love story epitomises 'true love'. However, before we jump into their epic love saga, it's important to talk about Major Shashidharan Nair, who laid down his life for the nation's service. For the unversed, Major Shashidharan Nair was born on July 30, 1985, in Kerala. Still, he spent most of his growing years in Pune after completing his schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Girinagar.

For graduation, Major Shashidharan Nair went to Pune's Ferguson College, where he pursued a degree in science. During his college days, Shashidharan joined NCC (National Cadet Corps), as he had always wanted to join the Armed Forces. Due to his intense commitment to get into the Indian Army, he eventually passed the Combined Defence Services Examination and joined the OTA Chennai. At the age of 22, Shashidharan Nair passed out in 2007 as a Lieutenant and was commissioned into the 2/1 GR battalion of 1 Gorkha Rifles Regiment. In the coming years, Shashidharan Nair continued giving his best to the Indian Army and was promoted multiple times.

Major Shashidharan Nair fell in love at first sight with Trupti Nair

It was around 2012, when Shashidharan Nair was serving as a Captain in the Indian Army when he met his then-future-wife, Trupti Nair, for the first time at a party. Their mutual friends introduced the duo, and as soon as Shashidharan saw Trupti for the first time, he instantly fell in love with her. While it was a love at first moment for Shashidharan, Trupti also reportedly liked his personality. After some frequent meetings, they decided to spend the rest of their lives with each other and involved their families.

Captain Shashidharan Nair's love story is the real-life version of Sooraj Barjatya's film, 'Vivah'

It was the year 2006 when Sooraj Barjatya's film, Vivah was released, and even after so many years, it is still considered as one of the most beautiful love stories ever. The way Shahid Kapoor's character, 'Prem' decided to marry his onscreen fiancee, 'Poonam' (Amrita Rao), despite her undergoing a major surgery with life-threatening complications in the film's climax, left a mark on the audience. The gesture was hailed, but many people termed Vivah as a fictional film, as it's hard to find people as pure as the film's protagonist, 'Prem' and his family.

In the year 2012, Captain Shashidharan Nair got engaged to his fiancee, Trupti. After eight months of their engagement ceremony, Trupti was diagnosed with multiple arteriosclerosis that left her lower body paralysed. It was a devastating moment for Trupti and her family, who were busy making preparations for her wedding with Captain Shashidharan Nair. Well, as soon as the news of Trupti being put on a wheelchair reached Shashidharan and his family, most of his friends and colleagues told him to call off the wedding.

However, to everyone's surprise, Captain Shashidharan Nair clearly stated to his family, friends and colleagues that he would marry Trupti, no matter what. Within a few months, Shashidharan married Trupti and proved the mettle of his love for her and the value of a commitment in a soldier's life. The couple led a beautiful married life, and in the coming years, Shashidharan Nair was promoted to Major. Despite reportedly being put on a wheelchair for life, Trupti Nair never went into depression, and most of its credit goes to her husband, Major Shashidharan Nair, who never let the disability come in between her happiness. From taking his wife to parties to always cheering her up, Shashidharan was a hands-on hubby, who taught Trupti how to live life to the fullest.

Major Shashidharan Nair was martyred in Nowshera IED explosion in Jammu and Kashmir

In 2019, Major Shashidharan Nair was posted in Jammu and Kashmir, and he was given the responsibility of taking care of the Nowshera sector, which was adjacent to the LOC. On January 11, 2019, when two soldiers got seriously injured in an IED blast, it was Major Shashidharan, who immediately launched a search operation.

During the operation, Major Shashidharan Nair reached the site around 3 p.m. on the same day of the blast to check for further landmines. Major Nair ordered his team to wait for his signal, as he wanted to ensure his team's safety by ensuring no more mines in that area.

Unfortunately, while operating around the blast site, Major Shashidharan Nair came under an IED blast, succumbed to his injuries and was martyred. It was tough news for Major Nair's family, especially his wife, Trupti Nair. How Major Nair's story unfolded clearly shows the uncertainty of a soldier's life but also sheds light on a soldier's commitment.
