Another red beaded necklace, diamond earrings, matching bangles, and a potli bag completed her look. She opted for subtle, rosy-toned makeup with soft eyes and pink lips. Her hair was tied up at the back, which completed her look.

Hermes' rare saree passed down as family heirloom by their mother

Coming back to the saree, it was their mother, Payal, a seasoned Hermes collector, who got it from the boutique when her daughter Aria was just 11 years old. She knew that she would be passing down the sarees to her daughter. Aria revealed to Diet Paratha the story of the rare saree, and said:

"My mum’s sales assistant knew she liked to collect art and design, so they offered her two. She thought it would be something nice for us one day. And yeah—will definitely be passing these down to my kids when I have them!"

"When the saris came out, I think she was really drawn to how Hermès, a major French house, made something so beautiful for India. Something truly informed by Indian culture. It was such a great intersection of craftsmanship and innovation, which is something that really inspires us, ones that genuinely put Eastern perspectives forward rather than just borrowing aesthetics. The best luxury is when cultures speak to each other, not just when one is used as inspiration for the other."

In 2011, Hermes thought of making something for its Indian lovers, and they made an exclusive 28 pieces. The brand's chairman, Jean-Louis Dumas, was inspired by the Indian saree and its craftsmanship. It was in 1999 that he commissioned a custom Hermes orange chiffon saree inspired by Calcutta-based artist, Sunita Kumar. She also helped the French label design the collection in 2011. Not many know that she inspired Dumas when he first saw her at a party, dressed in a saree and flaunting a patched Hermes' scarves. Her way of styling a saree with Hermes signature scarves kickstarted the love affair between Indian heritage and French luxury.
