After all these years, Indira Gandhi's name is once again in the headlines after Bollywood actress, Kangana Ranaut shared the teaser of her upcoming film, Emergency, on July 14, 2022. Once in a heart-to-heart conversation with Bina Lalvani, Indira Gandhi opened up about her husband, Feroze Gandhi. The politician had shared some never-heard-before revelations about their marriage and also shared a few snippets from their love story. The former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi was asked to share details about the beginning of her and Feroze's love story. Answering this, the iron lady of India shared that her husband saw her when she was 13-14 years old. "Yes, in my home town. He saw me when I was 13-14 and he proposed to me when I was 16."

Going further in the interview, Indira Gandhi was asked when she had said 'Yes' to Feroze Gandhi's proposal for marriage. The politician said that she had dodged Feroze's proposal quite a few times as she wasn't very much sure of it at the beginning. However, when the two were in Paris, Feroze had proposed to Indira while they were walking in one of the most famous hills, Montmartre, in France. That was the very moment when the politician had given the green light to Feroze Gandhi's proposal. Opening up about the same, she had recalled:

In the same interview, Indira Gandhi was asked whether there was any objection from her parents or family towards her decision to marry Feroze Gandhi because he was a Parsi? Answering this, Indira had clearly rubbished the much-circulated claim. She explained that instead of Feroze Gandhi's religion, her family was much-concerned about whether he will be able to support her in her aspirations and her unique way of life. Reflecting more on the same, the doting wife admitted that her husband had always supported her, and he was the first and last man in her life. She had said:

"Well, there was some, not because he was a Parsi, but because he came from a different background. Also some of the older members thought he wouldn't be able to support me in the way we ... I had been living. He (Feroze Gandhi) was the only man in my life, then or ever. I shared my closest personal moments with him."

For the unversed, Indira Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi had got married on March 26, 1942. Together they had welcomed two kids, Rajiv Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi. It was on September 8, 1960, when Feroze Gandhi had passed away due to a second heart attack.
