Yes, this seems to be the emerging trend, particularly among the South African players participating in IPL 5. The great, South African all-rounder, Jacques Kallis has confirmed that he would soon be tying the knot with his girlfriend Shamone Jardim. The couple has indicated that they would like to get married in an Indian village.
The linchpin of Team Kolkata's batting, Jacques Kallis has been dating Jardim for nearly five years. Jardim is an actor/model and easily among the most attractive faces seen regularly at IPL parties. She told reporters that the idea of getting married with a rural, Indian backdrop seemed enchanting.
Jardim has been a regular visitor to India. She confirmed her love for India and even opined that raising a family here seemed like a good idea. She belongs to Cape Town which has a sizeable population of the Indian Diaspora and immigrants. She confessed that the cultural mannerisms of India had initially made her curious about the country. She was particular in pointing out her fondness for spicy Indian cuisine and Shah Rukh Khan.
However, Kallis isn't the only SA player to have been smitten by India. His counterpart, AB De Villiers who is regarded as the future captain of the SA team, has followed suit. Just a few days back, De Villiers proposed to his lady, Danielle Swart, at the Taj Mahal.
The connection between IPL & Romance seems to be getting stronger. It would be great if an international IPL player would get married during the tournament, i.e. in a typically Indian way.
