Aadar Jain and Alekha Advani's whirlwind romance has set the internet buzzing with cinematic parallels, and sympathy for Aadar's ex, Tara Sutaria.
Aadar Jain is all set to start a new chapter of his life after being rokafied with his ‘first crush’, Alekha Advani, on November 23, 2024. The news of their roka has taken the internet by storm, sparking a flurry of speculations and discussions among fans. Many have expressed sympathy for Aadar’s ex-girlfriend, Tara Sutaria, and speculated a possible love triangle among the three. Movie buffs couldn’t help but tag this whirlwind romance as a real-life rendition of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.
For the unversed, Aadar Jain was in a serious relationship with Tara Sutaria for three years before they called it quits and Aadar started seeing Alekha. Well, that would not have been much of an issue if Alekha would have been some other woman. Turns out, Alekha, Aadar and Tara were pretty close. Aadar and Alekha were childhood buddies, and it was through Aadar that Alekha met Tara Sutaria. Alekha seemed to be like Tara’s bff as she even once tagged along with the then-couple on their romantic trip to Paris back in 2022.
Earlier this year, Aadar took to his IG and shared a romantic moment, announcing his engagement with Alekha Advani. Referring to Alekha as his ‘first crush’, Aadar shared photos with a caption that read:
“My first crush, my best friend & now, my forever”
With the news of Aadar and Alekha’s engagement in September 2024, and now their roka celebration, fans unearthed an old photo from when Aadar and Tara were together. A Reddit page posted a photo of the ‘trio’ where Alekha had referred to herself as the ‘third wheel’ while standing between Tara and Aadar. The thread was captioned:
“Just How Fast the Night Changes. Aadar,Tara, Alekha... Story Straight out of a Karan Johar Film”
Judging by the way things turned out at the end, with Alekha replacing Tara, the situation feels like a Bollywood twist straight out of the 2008 film, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Starring Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza, the film follows two best friends who realize their love after dating others Netizens were quick to compare Aadar to ‘Jai,’ Alekha to ‘Aditi,’ and Tara to ‘Meghna,’ the outsider caught in the mix. One Redditor pointed out:
“I feel bad for Tara, I do, very much!!!! But, this is the plot of “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na” movie. In that movie, most of the people supported Jai and Aditi and made it a classic. Here the guy is Jai, Tara is Meghna and the best friend girl is “Aditi”. I’m not trying to justify anything here, when I saw the movie I did understand Jai (this guy) and Aditi( the best friend) but my heart was always with Meghna (Tara) bcoz she did nothing wrong yet suffered. So if you’re someone who supported Jai and Aditi in the movie and were happy for them, don’t come at these two just bcoz this is real life. (Don’t tell me it’s not that serious bcoz IT IS!!!)”
While some sympathise with Tara, others view Aadar and Alekha's relationship as a classic tale of ‘meant to be’. Whether Alekha violated the “girl code” has also been a topic of contention. One user wrote: "Girl code really doesn't exist in Bollywood", whereas another comment took Tara's side, saying: "Tara can do better than him anyway."
