Ishita Dutta Opens Up About Her Mom-Guilt And Working After Postpartum, 'I Felt Separation Anxiety'

Ishita Dutta recently shared how it was difficult to leave her one-year-old son, Vayu, at home and shoot for a new project.

Ishita Dutta is one of the most commonly recognised actresses from television and films. She is famous for her role as 'Anju Salgaonkar' in Drishyam and its sequel. The actress-model has starred in versatile roles, and fans have always admired her charm. In her personal life, Ishita tied the knot with her former co-star and longtime beau, Vatsal Seth, in November 2017. The adorable couple welcomed their first child, a boy, Vayu, on July 19, 2023. They have often shared their happiness over the arrival of a little one in their life, and in a new interview, Ishita opened up about her feeling of mom guilt as she left her son home for a shoot of a fifilm.

Ishita Dutta reveals that she was reluctant to say yes to a new project after her son, Vayu's birth 

Ishita and Vatsal have been enjoying their new phase of parenthood, and their social media feeds are filled with pictures of their son. Recently, she sat down for an interview with the Hindustan Times and revealed that it wasn't an easy decision for her to restart work. The actress mentioned that she was reluctant. However, her family members and husband, Vatsal, supported and encouraged her for it. She was quoted as saying:

"The decision to get back to work was very tough. I thought I would come back after six months, but when the time came to say yes to any project, I felt reluctant. But, my parents, in-laws and husband said, 'We are here to take care of Vayu.' Vatsal and I both plan our schedules according to him."

Ishita added that leaving for her son daily makes her feel like a mom-guilt towards him. She went on to explain how it's always difficult for a mother to decide whether she returns to work after six months or two years. As a new mother, Ishita admitted to feeling separation anxiety as well. In her words: 

"Every working woman goes through that guilt. That first day when you have to leave your child and go to work will always be hard, be it six months or two years. A mother will always have that separation anxiety; I had it too, but I made it."

Ishita Dutta shared that she intends to bring her son, Vayu, to spend time with him on sets

Several actresses bring their children to set and spend time with them between shots. In the same conversation, Ishita shared that she wants to try the same and see if her son can stay till the end of her schedule for the day. Since the actress has gradually begun work, she plans to work properly and take a month off between projects to spend time with her little one and manage her mom's duties. She said: 

"We are getting him here. We will see how it goes. If he can adjust, then he will stay with me till the end of the schedule. I want to start working properly, but I will take a month or two between projects to spend time with him."

Ishita Dutta began her acting career with a Telugu film, Chanakyudu, in 2012. She soon ventured into TV and movies like Drishyam, Firangi, Blank, Ek Ghar Banaunga, Rishton Ka Saudagar - Baazigar, and Bepanah Pyaar, among others. She was last seen in the film, Drishyam 2, co-starring Ajay Devgn, Shriya Saran and Tabu. She has been on a break since embracing motherhood and recently resumed work.
