Nepotism is a never-ending debate in the Indian film industry. Several celebrities have shared their opinions on it time and again. While some have criticised the way the star kids bag opportunities one after the other, even if their successive projects have failed, others believe that, at the end of the day, talent matters. As the debate continues, the Paatal Lok actor, Jaideep Ahlawat is the latest one to comment on the topic.

Recently, Jaideep sat for an interview with Miss Malini and spoke at length about his life, both personal and professional. During the conversation, the host said that in the past five years, nepotism has become a much-talked-about issue in the industry and further inquired if it ever affected his career. Jaideep mentioned that he never believed that Ranbir Kapoor or Varun Dhawan would ever take his place. In his words:

“I don’t believe that ki Ranbir Kapoor mera koi role le lega ya Varun Dhawan mera koi role le lenge. Nahi Ranbir Kapoor Wo Ranbir Kapoor hai, aur kisi ko gumaan ho ki wo sirf star kid hai isiliye acha actor hai is brahm me mat rehna. Wo bahar se bhi aata na tab bhi wo Ranbir Kapoor banta.”

Jaideep Ahlawat thinks actors should create their own identity in the industry

Further in the conversation, Jaideep discussed that he did not step into the industry to become another Ranbir Kapoor. The actor added that he wanted to become the first Jaideep Ahlawat and create his unique identity. He also shared that even if an outsider actress wants to become the next Alia Bhatt, it is equally wrong. In Jaideep’s words:

“Kisi ka bhi naam le lo aap ki wo kisi ke bete hai jo already ek field mein 20 saal ya 25 saal jo mehnat ki hai aur main usse struggle kiye bina apna naam karun, main Ranbir Kapoor banne toh waise bhi nahi aaya tha. Koi bhi ladki Alia Bhatt banne aayegi toh galat baat hai. Apni image leke banayenge na, tum banogi kuch naya. Main dusra Ranbir Kapoor nahi hun, pehla Jaideep Ahlawat hun.”
