Janhvi Kapoor Admits Taking Refuge In Religion After Sridevi's Death, Says 'I Became Emotional'

Janhvi Kapoor lost her mother, Sridevi at a young age. Recently, the actress revealed how she dealt with the sudden demise of her mother.

Janhvi Kapoor is making headlines for her witty and thoughtful interviews for the promotions of her upcoming film, Mr and Mrs Mahi. In the last couple of years, the actress has frequently visited the Tirupati Balaji Temple alone or with some family members. In a recent interview with The Lallantop, the actress was asked about how she dealt with her mother's sudden death, and the actress shared how her visits to temple has played a vital role in it.

Janhvi Kapoor's perspective on life changed after her mother's demise

Janhvi Kapoor's mother and actress, Sridevi passed away on February 24, 2018. She was in her early 20s when the actress was shaken by the sudden passing of her mother that has changed her perspective towards life. Jahnvi admits turning towards spirituality has helped her a lot. The Dhadak actress' understanding of religion comes from her mother, who held solid religious opinions. Sharing the details, Janhvi said:

“She followed these practices because Mamma did. But following her demise, the relationship our culture and history have with Hinduism… I think I started taking refuge in our religion a lot more. Following her death, I decided to visit the temple every year on her birthday. The first time I did, I became very emotional, but I also found great mental peace.”

Janhvi Kapoor visits Tirupati Balaji Temple on her birthday

Janhvi Kapoor who celebrates her birthday on March 6 often visits Tirupati Balaji Temple around her big day. Even this year, the actress celebrated her birthday by visiting the temple with her boyfriend, Shikhar Pahariya, and friend, Orry. Janhvi was also seen climbing a portion of the temple's stairs on her knees. Speaking about her experience, the actress revealed:

“I have a spiritual connection with the sacred temple and I visited the hill shrine almost 50 times and I climbed the steps on my knees to fulfil my offer to Lord Balaji.”

Janhvi hasn't come to terms with her mother's death

Seven years after the actress Sridevi's death, Janhvi hasn't been able to come to terms with the incident. She admitted that she hasn't processed that sudden incident. However, the Good Luck Jerry actress often talks about her mother in interviews and appearances because she finds solace in remembering her. The actress accepts that the reminders of her mother's absence have been brutal for her to deal with and she will need more time for it.

Janhvi Kapoor's family background 

Janhvi Kapoor is the first child of actress, Sridevi, and her husband and filmmaker, Boney Kapoor. She also has a younger sister, Khushi Kapoor. Sridevi passed away in 2018 following an accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel. The diva will be next seen playing the role of a cricketer in Mr and Mrs Mahi, which is scheduled to release on May 31, 2024. She will next be seen in the films, RC 16, Ulajh, and Devara.
