Janhvi Kapoor Recalls Her Insecurities After Sridevi's Death, Says She Sought Unnecessary Validation

Janhvi Kapoor talked about dealing with a lot of insecurities after her mother, Sridevi's demise. She also admitted seeking validation at all the wrong places.

Janhvi Kapoor recalls drowning in insecurities after mom, Sridevi’s death

In a recent interaction on Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast, Janhvi Kapoor looked back on the tough times she had to deal with after losing her mother, Sridevi. The actress mentioned how back at that time, she felt like drowning in a sea of insecurities, and added how since her childhood, she was made to feel safe surrounded by people around her. Calling it her own reality, Janhvi said:

“I was in a very different emotional state when you met me last. I was drowning in insecurities. I think more than I am now. I am reaching up for once in a while. It has been conditioned into me from a very young age. When you’re entire existence and everyone around makes you feel like… and this in no way is me asking for sympathies. Everyone has different realities, this is mine.”

Janhvi says she lost out on her self-worth, sought validation at wrong places

Moving forth in the conversation, Janhvi Kapoor then added how, contrary to her image of being a privileged star kid, reality was completely different for her, especially after losing her mother. The diva mentioned that there was a time when she sought validation from everywhere, including the wrong places, since she lacked in her self-worth post the traumatising loss. In her words:

“When people have such a heavy perception of you when you’re privileged and baggage, and you are made to feel apologetic about the space that you take up in the industry and the school, every time you make friends, or you do well in school or you get any sort of opportunities, it is always pinned to where you come from. You don’t know what value to give yourself individual of these aspects so I think self-worth was always a thing. I didn’t know how to assess my value. And after losing mom, I think I was seeking validation from a lot of places I shouldn’t have been seeking validation from.”

Janhvi mentioned how she sought refuge in God after Sridevi’s death

In one of her other interviews with The Lallantop, Janhvi Kapoor opened up about an unheard side of her personality, and revealed how she coped up with the pain of her mother’s demise, by seeking refuge in God and spirituality. She explained how since then, she made it a point to visit the Tirupati temple every year on her mother’s birthday. She added how such a gesture gives her solitude and a lot of mental peace.

When Janhvi Kapoor recalled that her mother, Sridevi wanted her to become a doctor

Previously, while chatting with Rajkummar Rao and Karan Johar on Dharma Production’s YouTube channel, Janhvi Kapoor remarked how her mother and superbly talented actress, Sridevi, never wanted her to become an actor. Sharing how her mother wanted her to become a doctor instead, Janhvi said:

“And she told me, Karan. She said, the comparisons that are going to come with you becoming an actor being my daughter, I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. She said that repeatedly, and she said, why can’t you just become a doctor? And I said, mumma, I promise you I will play the role of a doctor in a movie.”
