Janhvi Kapoor Revealed Wish To Get Married At Tirupati, 'Will Be Wearing A Gold, Zari Kanjeevaram..'

In a throwback interview, Janhvi Kapoor discussed her wish to get married at the Tirupati temple, and talked about the meaningful preferences of food and costumes over there.

Boney Kapoor and his late wife, Sridevi's daughter, Janhvi Kapoor has recently been making the headlines for quite a number of times with deets from her personal life. She is reportedly dating her childhood friend, Shikhar Pahariya. She confirmed the rumours by flaunting a necklace with his nickname 'Shiku' at the special screening event of the film, Maidaan. Amidst this, we stumbled upon an old interview of her, wherein the actress can be heard talking about her future wedding plans.

Janhvi Kapoor wishes to get married very intimately in Tirupati

In a 2021 Brides Today interview, Janhvi Kapoor talked about her dream wedding. She revealed envisioning an intimate ceremony at the holy shrine, Tirupati. For the unversed, just like her mom, Sridevi, Janhvi too often visits the temple to pay tribute to her roots and gets spotted. Thus, when discussing her future wedding plans, the actress shared her personal and meaningful preferences. She disclosed her desire for an intimate ceremony at the temple, wherein she would be wearing a gold, zari Kanjeevaram saree, make her hair adorned with mogras in her hair, while her husband would don a lungi. Moreover, the traditional food will be served on banana leaves. She stated:

"I’ve had a very clear picture of that, right from the start! I want to be married in Tirupati; it will be a very intimate affair. I know what I will be wearing — a gold, zari Kanjeevaram saree; and I’ll have lots of mogras in my hair. My husband is going to be in a lungi. And we will all eat food on a banana leaf after the wedding."

Janhvi on her love for the holy shrine, Tirupati

In the same conversation, Janhvi talked about her love for the holy shrine, Tirupati. She mentioned her frequent visits to the place, which influenced her decision to marry over there. Moreover, the actress expressed that earlier, she had attended the wedding of a loved one over there, and therein, she felt the beauty of such intimate weddings. Moreover, she revealed how the large-scale events bring a lot of anxiety to her. Thus, elaborating more about her choice of intimate wedding over there, she said:

"I visit Tirupati a lot. And when taking such a big step in my life, I’d want to get married there, with the person that I love. Also, in the past, I attended the wedding of a family member there...and really enjoyed it. I don’t like big weddings — they’re fun to attend, but being the centre of attention at such a big event will give me too much anxiety!"

Janhvi Kapoor climbed the stairs of Tirupati Balaji temple on her knees

For her birthday in 2024, Janhvi visited the shrine to offer prayers to the almighty and seek blessings, along with her boyfriend, aunt and best friend, Orry. In a few pictures shared by Orry, she was seen climbing the stairs of Tirupati Balaji temple, as per a widespread practice preached there. Orry documented the entire journey and shared it on his YouTube channel, wherein the three of them started climbing the stairs after relishing a hearty vegetarian meal at Janhvi’s aunt’s house. After a certain number of stairs, the three of them began to climb the stairs on their knees. But although Orry gave up after a few steps, Janhvi continued her journey on her knees, which was quite impressive.

When Janhvi visited Tirupati temple on her mom, Sridevi's 56th birthday

Earlier, when on Sridevi's 56th birth anniversary on August 13, 2019, Janhvi made a trip to Tirupati, to mark the special occasion. In a few pictures of the same, she was seen dressed in a gold and green half lehenga-cum-saree, and looked strikingly similar to her mother in these pictures. Janhvi's boyfriend, Shikhar also marked his presence along with her. He looked handsome in a white shirt and dhoti.
