In a recent interview, Janhvi Kapoor revealed why she couldn't love the sport of cricket initially, due to her doting daddy, Boney Kapoor and her revelation is every daughter's opinion.
Janhvi Kapoor is one of the stunning actresses of her time. She has been working non-stop in one after the other films. Recently, she was seen in the Hindi-language romantic sports drama film, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, co-starring Rajkummar Rao. Directed by Sharan Sharma and produced by Zee Studios and Dharma Productions, the film was released on May 31, 2024. Herein, she played the role of 'Mahima', who is a doctor-turned-cricketer, inspired by her husband, 'Mahendra'.
Thus, pre-and-post release of the film, Mr. & Mrs. Mahi, Janhvi Kapoor indulged in a number of promotional interviews related to cricket. Among which, in an interview with Miss Malini.com, Janhvi was asked, "When you were a child, you kind of disliked cricket because it kept you away from your father?" To this, the actress clarified what she had said earlier about a moment from her childhood days. It was during the trailer launch of Mr. and Mrs. Mahi that Janhvi shared she would get irritated when her father, Boney Kapoor would watch cricket.

However, while answering, she mentioned, "I think I made it sound more dramatic than I needed to." Then, she went on to explain why cricket was among those things, for which Boney used to ignore her at times. Explaining her statement, Janhvi mentioned that since Boney is simply in love with cricket, it was one of the things in her childhood, which would put her father's attention away from her. However, otherwise praising her daddy, Janhvi added:
"I didn't dislike it. I would just associate it with the thing that keeps my father's attention away from me on somedys. He was a very pleasant, very good father. He still is. But he loves cricket like he lives for cricket and if you try to converse with him whilst he is watching cricket he will ignore you."
Earlier, Janhvi sat for a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia for his podcast, wherein she recalled sneaking into her parents, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor’s room at night to check if they were breathing. She mentioned being paranoid right from her young age about losing her parents, and how she used to freak out at trivial matters. She elaborated that once she boarded a flight with her nanny while her parents were shopping stuff, she soon started feeling shortness of breath as she felt her parents wouldn't come back home anymore.

In the same conversation, Janhvi expressed how, after a certain age, kids used to get mature and forgive their parents for many things. She mentioned that now her maternal instincts have grown stronger. Moreover, she understood why her father was absent for a multiple number of events in her life and stated:
"After a certain age, they become our kids. I know that I will give my father a lot more allowances to maybe not be there emotionally for me in a way that I assumed a father should be there, just because I know now it’s my time to be there for him. I think we’re too hard on our parents. Everyone’s f**ked up because of their parents, no one has it right. But they’re also messed up because of their parents. No one has followed a handbook, so you need to forgive yourself and forgive them. Just give them love and be there.”
