Jason Shah stated the set of Heeramandi lacked kindness

In a recent interview with NDTV, Jason Shah talked about his working experience on the Netflix show, Heeramandi. For the unversed, Jason played the role of the British cop, 'Alastair Cartwright' in the show. Coming back to his revelations, the actor stated that he felt like the atmosphere on the set was fraught with 'stress.' Jason mentioned that the set lacked the basic and simple niceties of human nature. He added that he was not introduced to many of the co-actors and even to the director, which he felt to be very odd and confusing. Jason added:

"I found it to be lacking in the simple niceties of human nature. I felt like there were places where just 'Hi Jason, this is this person, the director you will be working with today'. I was not introduced to many people over there, which I found very odd. I found it a little confusing in some ways.”

Going further in the interview, Jason Shah revealed that he thought that as he was playing the role of a villain in the show, the makers wanted him to be a bit disconnected from the other co-stars. He remarked that it made him feel a bit out of place, as being connected to another human being would possibly not affect anything that was displayed on screen. Jason mentioned:

"I started thinking, I am the villain, so maybe they want the villain to be angry and disconnected from everybody. But me being connected to a human being on set never really boils over to my character onscreen. I felt a little bit out of place in some places, but I guess you keep on going with the flow of things and pick it up from wherever."

Jason Shah said Sanjay Leela Bhansali said a 'very silent Hi' to him

In the concluding segment of the interview, Jason Shah revealed that once he was sitting at Sanjay Leela Bhansali's office, and that's when the director came in and greeted him with a 'very silent Hi.' He mentioned that he had the script in his hand, and SLB was looking at him through a cupboard. Jason revealed that he later felt that the director only came to check if the guy whom he selected for the role could pull it off. Jason can be quoted as saying:

"I was sitting inside one of the rooms in his office. I had the script in my hand, and that's when he came in and started nonchalantly looking through a cupboard. He then looked over and said a very silent, ‘Hi.' It wasn't an introduction of sorts. I realised later that he had come to see me to check if the guy that he chose would be able to carry it off.”
