Jaya Bachchan said that neither the actors nor the industry received anything beneficial from the Union Budget 2024. Sharing her thoughts on the matter, she added:
"Actors, all actors. Hum logon ke liye kuch bhi nahi hai. Humari industry ke liye kuch nahi hai. Nothing for the country."
In 2024-25, the government has allotted Rs. 4,342 crore to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB). Meanwhile, many in the media and entertainment industries had called for a reduction in the entertainment tax paid on movie tickets prior to the budget presentation. The hefty taxes have turned away moviegoers, impacting the financial lines of filmmakers, producers, and distributors.
