Jaya Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan Nanda featured together on Navya Naveli Nanda's podcast, where the veteran actress chided her daughter for being self-obsessed and not letting others talk.
The fiery ladies of the Bachchan clan, Jaya Bachchan and Shweta Bachchan, are known for speaking their hearts out. The ladies don’t hesitate to voice their opinions and stand by the same, which is why the mother-daughter duo, along with the youngest lady of the family, Navya Naveli Nanda, run a podcast, What The Hell Navya. Herein, the ladies from the three different generations express their unfiltered opinions on various topics and don’t dither to argue if their perspectives don’t align.
For the unversed, Navya is the daughter of Shweta Bachchan and her husband, Nikhil Nanda, and the granddaughter of Jaya Bachchan and Amitabh Bachchan. Navya is an entrepreneur, women’s rights advocate, and social media influencer. She uses her platform to voice her and her family’s opinions and bring about positive change in society.

Jaya Bachchan’s fiery personality is no secret, the actress-turned-politician doesn’t hesitate to rebuke the opposition for what she feels is right and, in the process, doesn’t even spare her own children. In the recent episode of the podcast, What The Hell Navya, the Sholay actress snubbed her daughter, Shweta, for interrupting her repeatedly. It so happened that Navya asked Jaya her opinion on the internet’s impact on human nature. Shweta hijacked the questions and started speaking from her perspective, which mildly agitated Jaya Bachchan, so she rebuked Shweta to let others speak and to stop being so self-centred.
Jaya Bachchan added that different people have varied opinions on a topic, and Shweta should learn to respect that and also let others speak. She also reprimanded her daughter for continuously taking and giving her views on the subject. When Shweta said that voicing opinions is the sole purpose of a podcast, Jaya chided her daughter that voicing opinions doesn’t mean that she will only focus on what she feels is right.

In the same episode, Navya talked about the pros and cons of the internet and how it has made information and news readily available to humankind. During this conversation, Jaya Bachchan stated that she feels that anxiety and other mental health issues have skyrocketed due to the internet as it provides one with too much information. On the show itself, her daughter disagreed with her and stated that anxiety has always been there but got its due recognition in the age of the internet.
