Now, actress, Jayati Bhatia, who played the role of 'Phatto' in the web series, shared insights on her experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and his approach on working with the cast.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to bring out the best performances from the actors who work with him. He is known for his attention to detail and ability to create a larger-than-life grandeur on-screen. Actress, Jayati Bhatia, who recently got an opportunity to work with the filmmaker on his web series, Heeramandi, revealed that he has a unique approach of giving Rs. 500 to appreciate actors whenever they give an excellent shot. As a result, she bagged the total amount of Rs. 1500, as she had left the filmmaker thrilled with her performance thrice. In an interaction with ABP Live, she was quoted as saying:
“When he finds the shot to be excellent, he won’t say okay. He would either say ‘Jeeyo Phatto’ or he would say ‘500 rupay’.”

Before Jayati, actor, Indresh Malik, who played 'Ustaadji,' shared a similar incident. He said that the ace filmmaker was happy with his performance when he had done the 'nath' scene on the series, which also featured Sonakshi Sinha. Given the high intensity of the scene, Indresh was crying for five minutes after the scene ended. So, Sanjay Leela Bhansali hugged him and gave him Rs. 500 as a token of appreciation. Indresh was mesmerised by the incident and kept thinking about it for a long time.
Jayati Bhatia had earlier revealed that she was the last to join the cast of Heeramandi. The casting team was looking for an ideal actor to portray the role for two years before signing her. So, when Jayati received the offer, she was initially reluctant but went ahead for an opportunity to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali. She appreciated the director and revealed that he never made her feel any less than other actors. Recalling her experience, she said:
“He never made me feel that there are other big actors on set. My chemistry with him was quite great. Day one was a little shaky. I forgot my lines in my first shot, and Mr Bhansali remarked, ‘You are from theatre and you forgot the lines.’ But after that, when we redid the scenes, there was no looking back.”
