The annual Hurun List was released on August 29, 2024, and it features some of the wealthiest people in India based on their annual earnings. The latest list depicted that India now has 334 billionaires, with all the top 20 sectors adding new faces to the list. The changing fortunes of Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani were the highlights of the list, as the former replaced the latter and became the richest Indian.
The list, which features celebs with over Rs. 1000 crore net worth, saw the handsome Shah Rukh Khan embark on his debut in the list. He became the highest-earning celebrity in the entertainment world. But the name of the richest actress came as a surprise as she is someone who has not done a film as a lead in many years. She is none other than Juhi Chawla. Shah Rukh Khan’s close friend and business partner, Juhi, reportedly holds a fortune of Rs. 4600 crores. Juhi Chawla started her career as Miss India in 1984 and later established herself as a leading actress in Bollywood and other regional films. With films like Qayamat Se Qayamat, Yes Boss, Darr, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Ishq, and Lootere, Juhi proved her versatility. She, along with Shah Rukh Khan, co-founded the production company, Dreamz Unlimited, which was later transformed into Red Chillies Entertainment.
Juhi Chawla married Jay Mehta, owner of The Mehta Group, in 1995. The couple welcomed two children, a daughter, Jahnavi, in 2001 and a son, Arjun, in 2003. In addition to owning the Mehta Group, Jay Mehta and Juhi Chawla are co-owners of the Indian Premier League’s team, Kolkata Knight Riders with actor Shah Rukh Khan. According to Forbes, KKR is valued at 216 million dollars, making it the third most valuable brand in the IPL.
