Junaid Khan Reveals The Reason Behind Making His Debut At 31, 'I Had Been Receiving Scripts...'

Junaid Khan, son of Aamir Khan, recently debuted with the Netflix film, 'Maharaj.' In a recent interview, he revealed that he received many offers before it.

Junaid Khan has been hitting headlines since the release of his debut film, Maharaj. Despite being the son of superstar, Aamir Khan, Junaid made his debut without taking any help from his father that impressed the netizens. At the same time, his performance has received positive reviews from critics and audiences. He recently sat down for an interview with News 18 Showsha, and shared details about securing the project and also revealed other interesting insights.

Junaid reveals why he made his acting debut at the age of 31

All the star kids like Sara Ali Khan, Suhana Khan, Ananya Panday, Agastya Nanda, and more debuted in their early 20s. They immediately got to play the central characters in their debut projects. However, Junaid made his debut at the age of 31 despite deciding to pursue acting long ago. The actor shared that he had received many offers over time, yet he decided to take things gradually. He was quoted as saying:

"Before Maharaj happened, I had been receiving scripts. I've been doing plays in Mumbai since 2017. At that time, I would also be offered film scripts and get calls for auditions and readings on an on-and-off basis. Siddharth (director) sir and Adi (producer) sir saw my test for another film before they called me in for Maharaj. This is my first film because this is the first thing that worked out for everybody."

Junaid shares the reaction he has been receiving over his debut film

The shooting for Maharaj began in 2021 but wasn't released until 2024. Moreover, the film's release was delayed due to a stay order given by the court after a plea filed by the Pushtimarg community. However, after its release, everyone has been talking and praising it. Junaid revealed that he has got heartwarming appreciation from everyone for his work. In his words:

"It has been really heartwarming and gratifying. A lot of people from the industry who have liked the film have reached out. I've had classmates from college who I haven't spoken to in ten years and school texting me. I've had lots of conversations with Adi sir. He really liked the film and my work in it."

Junaid Reacts to Sai Pallavi's appreciation for his work

Junaid Khan has been receiving praise from several film fraternity members, and the newest addition to the list is Sai Pallavi. For the unversed, Junaid will pair with her in a love story project, under his father, Aamir Khan's production house. Reacting to her praise, Junaid said:

"Sai Pallavi is absolutely fantastic. I've my fingers crossed for this one."

Junaid earlier shared that his family is supportive and encouraging

Junaid Khan is the son of Aamir Khan and his first wife, Reena Dutta. He has a sister, Ira Khan. In an earlier interview with India Today, Aamir shared that his family is supportive and critical of his work at the same time. Although they don't talk much about films, they always encourage him. In his words:

"I'm blessed because I come from a very supportive family. Also, they don't shy away from saying it like it is. Even Papa will say, 'Look, I feel this, but you should do what you want.' The same is with mom. So, yeah, I think everybody is very supportive and very encouraging even in their criticism."
