South Korean actor-singer, Lee Dong Gun garnered much praise for his role as the antagonist ‘Jin Tae Jeon’ in the thriller K-drama, Celebrity. The said drama has been one of the best in 2023. Lee Dong stepped into showbiz in 1998 as a singer, but his acting career took off better than his musical endeavours. He has starred in popular K-dramas such as Sweet 18, Lovers In Paris, Queen For 7 Days, and Leverage, among others.

Lee Dong Gun fell in love with his The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop co-star, Jo Yoon Hee. He confirmed on February 28, 2017, that he was dating the actress. On May 2, 2017, Lee Dong announced that they had registered their marriage and were expecting their first child. The couple held a private wedding ceremony on September 29, 2017, and welcomed a baby girl on December 14, 2017. Unfortunately, due to irreconcilable differences, they filed for divorce on May 29, 2020.

Lee Dong Gun felt lonely after his divorce from Jo Yoon Hee, even his mother was hurt when she heard of his separation

Actor-singer, Lee Dong Gun recently appeared on SBS’s show, My Little Old Boy, along with his mother. He shared a few insights regarding his life post-divorce from Jo Yoon Hee on the episode that aired on October 29, 2023. Even his mother revealed her feelings about her son’s separation. She said:

“I was really hurt when I heard about my son’s divorce. He used to attend church diligently, but he stopped going after the divorce. He didn’t want to meet people. Until now, he still doesn’t like going out.”

According to Kbizoom, Lee Dong Gun described the impact of his divorce on his mental health. He mentioned that he felt lonely after parting ways with actress, Jo Yoon Hee. Lee Dong Gun said:

"In the house where three people lived, two people left, and I was left alone. It felt very different. I didn’t want to go home. It was strange to enter a house where no one was there. I wanted to escape from home."

Lee Dong Gun spoke fondly about his daughter, Roa

During the interview, the actor, Lee Dong Gun spoke about his daughter, Roa, and the efforts he has made to provide her with everything she needs. He mentioned that he had moved recently and had taken most of the household items with him. Lee Dong Gun makes sure to stay connected with Roa by sending her voice messages that are delivered to her mother's phone. He further added:

"It’s tricky because it’s not Roa’s phone, so I don’t know when or under what circumstances to make a call. I meet my daughter every Sunday. Roa doesn’t want to be apart from me on some days. She asks, 'Dad, why don't you come to our house?' I reassure her, 'I'm busy, but I'll definitely meet you on Sunday.'"

Lee Dong Gun and Jo Yoon Hee parted ways after three blissful years of holy matrimony. Their respective agencies released official statements on behalf of the celebrities announcing that ‘after serious contemplation’ and due to ‘irreconcilable differences’, the two filed for divorce.
