Bollywood singer, Kailash Kher recently recalled the time when he went to Rishikesh to become a 'Pandit' and even considered ending his life by jumping into the river, Ganga.
Popular singer, Kailash Kher is one of the most acclaimed singers, and composers who has made incomparable contributions to Sufi and Rock songs. However, to everyone's shock, the singer-composer thought of ending his life at one point. In a recent interview, Kailash discussed his life challenges before discovering his passion for music and succeeding in Bollywood.
Kailash Kher talked about his life before making it big in Bollywood. In an interview with ANI, the Saiyaan singer claimed that he did a variety of odd jobs to make ends meet. He talked about his export business which he started in Delhi when he was 20 or 21. He used to export handicrafts to Germany. Unfortunately, the business failed, and Kher relocated to Rishikesh to become a pandit. The singer said:
“I had done many odd jobs to survive. I was 20 or 21 when I started doing export business in Delhi. I used to send handicrafts to Germany. Unfortunately, all of a sudden, that business collapsed. After facing several problems in business, I went to Rishikesh to become a pandit."

Kailash went on to say that he used to believe that he was a loser and felt like an outcast among his peers owing to the difference in opinion with his fellow mates, who were much younger to him. Kailash Kher felt he had failed in life; therefore, he even tried to end his life by jumping into the river Ganga. Talking about the same, Kailash stated:
"I used to feel that I was a misfit there as my fellow mates were younger than me and my views never matched theirs. I was dejected as I was failing in everything..so one day I tried to commit suicide by jumping into the river Ganga.”
Kailash Kher also described how someone at the Ganga ghat swiftly dived into the holy river to save him. The Teri Deewani singer also revealed how that person yelled and hit him on his head after knowing his intentions. He said:
A person at the Ghat jumped in the Ganga immediately and saved me. He asked, ‘Tairna nahin aata gaya kyu tha? (Why did you jump when you don’t know how to swim?)’ I replied, ‘Marne (to die)’… aur meri suicide ki baat jaane ke baad unhone mujhe tez ki tapli maari sar pe (after learning about my intentions of ending my life, he hit me hard on my head).”

Kailash Kher is among the top singers in the Bollywood industry. He has sung and composed some of the most iconic chartbuster songs in his two-decade career. However, he had his fair share of struggles before making it big in the industry. Nevertheless, he became a well-known singing artist in Bollywood, thanks to his song, Allah ke Bande, which was featured in the film, Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part two. His classic song, Teri Deewani by his band Kailasa and Ya Rabba from the movie, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute to Love broke many records and had huge sales.
He has worked in more than 500 songs for the Hindi film industry and has in more than 20 Indian languages, including Sindhi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Punjabi, Oriya, Bengali, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Tamil, Gujarati, Marathi, Konkani, etc. Padma Shri awardee, Kailash also recorded more than 1,000 radio and television commercial jingles.
