Kalki Koechlin recently opened up about how she tried a polyamorous relationship when she was younger and her views on the same.
Kalki Koechlin is one of the few actresses in Bollywood who never went by a rulebook. She is a French actress who has primarily worked in Indian films and has played several unconventional roles in different movies, nailing them with her acting skills. She married her long-time partner, Guy Hershberg and the couple, welcomed a daughter in 2020. In a new interview, Kalki revealed her experience in relationships and how she tried polyamorous relationships at one point in her life.
Kalki Koechlin has never backed out from sharing her life experiences with the media, and the audience appreciates the actress for her honesty. Recently, she sat down for an interview with Hauterrfly. During the discussion, Kalki was asked about her opinion on polyamorous relationships. In her reply, Kalki shared that she is now married to her long-time partner, Guy Hershberg, and they have a daughter, Sappho. So, she has no time for anything else. However, in the past, she did have a polyamorous relationship, and it's a personal choice. In her words:
"Now that I am married and have a kid, I don't think I got time for that because you just don't even have time to see your own partner. But I think that it has happened in the past."
The Shanghai actress explained that polyamorous relationship comes with some strict boundaries. Moreover, it needs crucial consent from both the partners involved. Kalki said it's better when your partners are from your common circle. She was quoted as saying:
"I think you have to be very specific about your rules and boundaries. It means, perhaps, it can't be from your circle. I don't think you can go as deep in a polyamorous relationship. Although I do know people who have managed to have a lifetime and have kids as well and do it."
Kalki shared that having a deep relationship with multiple partners is difficult. However, some people manage it well for a lifetime. Kalki shared that she was young and didn't want to settle down, so she tried a polyamorous relationship but is a different person now. She said:
"For me, it was a very different period in my life; I was much younger. I wasn't interested in settling down, so it was okay. The idea was to be kind of each other's main person but just also be like an experiment. I know people who have done it, but I don't know if I would be able to be as invested in it in the long term."
Kalki Koechlin was asked how she dealt with breakups and heartbreaks in the same conversation. She shared that she prefers a proper breakup with someone, but it is not easy. Further, the actress said that she has learnt life goes on after a relationship ends. However, it wasn't very easy for her at that time because she dealt with sleep nights and terrible things when her heart was broken.
