After Sharmin Segal said that for 'Heeramandi, ' she took inspiration from Meena Kumari's 'nothingness' in 'Pakeezah', the latter's stepson, Tajdar, reacted to the same.
Sharmin Segal's performance in Heeramandi, got a tag of 'nothingness' from the viewers. The actress was limitlessly trolled for her role in her uncle, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's debut web series. When she was asked about the negativity, the actress stated that she was prepared, and it didn't bother her as she only focused on the positive side of it. She also added that she tried to take notes from Meena Kumari's nothingness in the movie, Pakeezah. And now, Meena Kumari's husband, Kamal Amrohi's son, Tajdar reacted to the same.
For the unversed, Meena Kumari got married to Kamal Amrohi in an extremely intimate nikah ceremony. He was previously married to Jamal Hasan's daughter, Mehmood, with whom he had three children, two sons and a daughter. Recently, Amrohi and Mehmood's son, Tajdar, in an interview with Zoom, was asked about Sharmin's claims of bringing Meena Kumari's reference to her acting in Heeramandi.

When asked if he had watched Heeramandi, Tajdar stated that he had only watched three episodes. He was asked if there are any similarities between Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi and his father's movie, Pakeezah, in which Meena Kumari acted. He stated that there can be no comparison as Pakeezah can never be made since neither Meena Kumar nor Kamal Amrohi would born again. Tajdar said:
"Zameen aasman ka farak hai between Heeramandi and Pakeezah. Don't compare the two. Nobody can make Pakeezah again. Neither Meena Kumari nor Kamal Amrohi can ever be born again."
Talking about the same, Tajdar mentioned that he wouldn't want to comment on this topic since Sanjay Leela Bhansali was his father's fan. He said that SLB tries to take shots in every way that Kamal Amrohi did. He also recalled that 15 years ago, Bhansali had arrived at Kamalistan's studio, and out of respect, he touched the ground where Kamal Amrohi used to sit. Sharing that different people have different opinions, Tajdar said:
"Once, he had come to Kamalistan Studio, he asked where my dad used to sit, where my dad walked. Out of great respect, he touched the ground where my dad sat. That was 15 years ago and after that, I never met him again."
Sharmin Segal, in an interview with ETimes, stated that Meena Kumari's 'nothingness' in Pakeezah was her inspiration for Heeramandi. To this, Tajdar mentioned that he doesn't know Sharmin and couldn't relate to her statement. When asked the reason, he said that was not 'nothingness' from Meena Kumari's end, as she was looking at him as that 'nothingness', so there must have been some emotions to that look.

He said, "Meena Kumari saw me in that nothingness. She must be surely seeing something in that expression. Woh nothingness nahin thi, woh main tha." When asked if Meena Kumari was fond of him, Tajdar said that the legendary actress loved him as his son, and he, too, respected her as his mother.
