Kamal Haasan Recalls 3-Week Wait For 'Sholay' As He Gets FDFS Tickets For 'Kalki 2898 AD' From Big B

Kamal Haasan had a heartwarming interaction with Amitabh Bachchan at the promotional event of their upcoming film, 'Kalki 2898 AD,' wherein Kamal Haasan revealed some interesting deets.

Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan have been one of the greatest stars in Bollywood. Kamal has even worked extensively in the South Indian film Industry. The two veteran stars shall share the screen space in the upcoming film, Kalki 2898 AD. At the promotional event, the two stars shared a heartwarming moment as Amitabh gave the FDFS film ticket to Kamal Haasan, where the latter recalled an interesting anecdote from the past.

Kamal Haasan recalled waiting for three weeks to watch Sholay as he received the FDFS ticket

At the grand promotional event for Kalki 2898 AD, the film's producer, C Aswani Dutt, gave the film's 'First Day First Show' ticket to Amitabh Bachchan. It's a tradition in the Telugu film industry. However, Amitabh quickly handed it over to Kamal Haasan, whom he considers his brother. Kamal Haasan was delighted to receive it and shared an interesting incident from the past.

Kamal Haasan shared that he worked as an assistant director on one of Amitabh Bachchan's most successful film, Sholay, in 1975. But he had to wait for three weeks until he got the tickets to watch the now cult film. The Indian 2 actor added that, given that memory, he couldn't imagine getting an FDFS ticket from Big B. He was quoted as saying:

"I wish this had happened four to five decades ago as I waited for three weeks to watch Sholay. I hope there are many more fans who must be waiting for weeks to see the film like I did for Sholay. I never thought I'll get the first day first show ticket from Mr Amitabh Bachchan. I was a film technician, and now I'm an actor, and nothing much has changed."

Kamal Haasan had earlier revealed that he hated Sholay

During the launch event of Kalki 2898 AD, Kamal Haasan recalled his experience of working as an Assistant Director on Sholay. He shared that he could not sleep the night when he saw the film. Kamal added that he hated the film and said the same to its filmmaker. He added:

"For those who remember Sholay with nostalgia, I was an assistant director. And, I couldn't sleep that night when I saw Sholay. First, I hated the film so much, I hated the filmmaker even more. And I had the opportunity of working with that great filmmaker and I told him that that was my reaction when I saw the film. As a technician, I couldn't sleep that night, and that's the kind of movie… many such movies Amit ji has done."

Kamal Haasan's work front

Kamal Haasan was last seen in the film, Vikram as 'Agent Arun Kumar Vikram.' He will soon be seen in Kalki 2898 AD, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan, Prabhas, and Deepika Padukone. Also, he has two Tamil films, including Indian 2 and Thug Life in his kitty.
