Filmmaker, Karan Johar debunks veteran actress, Jaya Bachchan's assumingly rude personality and reveals how kind she is, on the contrary.
Jaya Bachchan is one of those veteran actresses, who enjoys immense stardom and fame even today. Apart from her prolific acting career, it is her honest opinions and fearless personality that grabs much attention. Moreover, the fact that Jaya Bachchan doesn’t fret away from calling a spade a spade has been one of the highly critiqued aspects of her personality. For instance, the veteran actress seems to take objection about getting clicked without permission by the paparazzi, and she is often spotted rudely responding to them.
However, it seems that Jaya Bachchan isn’t actually a rude person in real life. Recently, while speaking at Mid-Day’s show, Sit With Hitlist, filmmaker, Karan Johar opened up about an unheard side of personality of the veteran star. For the unversed, he had quite recently collaborated with Jaya Bachchan for the 2023-film, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Talking about Jaya Bachchan, Karan stated how she is the most kind-hearted person, unlike the popular belief about her being rude and impolite. The filmmaker further recalled instances, wherein the actress generously behaved with the crew members on the film sets, and even pulled pranks. In his words:
“I want to put this on record, Aunty J as I call her, is far from what you think she is. She is the kindest, warmest, largest-hearted person I know. My crew, if you ask them who is the favourite person on set, they would say Jaya Bachchan. She is the only person who remembered the 14 AD’s names, knew what they did, where they lived, and how many siblings they had, she cared enough for all of them. When she used to feel a crew member was overworking, she would send for samosas and mithai, or get a cake on set. People loved her.”

In the same interaction, Karan Johar addressed Jaya Bachchan’s lack of interest towards getting clicked by the paparazzi, which many assume to be reflective of her rude personality and behaviour. The filmmaker, instead, claimed how the actress was severely misunderstood, since she is, on the contrary, very relaxed and calm. However, what irritates her is when the paparazzi come close to her face to click pictures. He said:
“She is the warmest, kindest, most giving human being. She is so calm and composed. She would sit there on set chat, with all the ADs and she would play pranks. She is great fun. And she is nothing like this. It is just that if you put cameras in her face, she is going to get annoyed. I wish everyone would get an experience of the large heart that Jaya Aunty has. She is not like this at all.”
Previously, while interacting in her granddaughter’s podcast, What The Hell Navya, Jaya Bachchan spoke about the reason that keeps her away from social media. The star who is infamously known for having a bone to pick with the paparazzi remarked how she feels that the world already knows a lot about her family, and thus she feels no need to join social media and offer everybody a glimpse of her home inside.

Speaking along the same lines, the actress remarked how such a thing becomes quite normal for her, since she considers her husband, Amitabh Bachchan as her only friend. In her words:
“My closest friends are inside my house. It’s true, my husband is my best friend. I don’t hide anything from him.”
