It was one of the most pleasant surprises for everyone when Karan Johar announced the arrival of his twin babies, a boy and a girl. Karan surprised not only media and fans with this news, but also many of his close friends. He named his little bundles of joy after his late father Yash Johar and his mother Hiroo Johar’s name. He named them Yash and Roohi.

Yash and Roohi were born on February 7, 2017, through surrogacy. Karan kept it a secret for a very long time as the babies were in neonatal care. Even after the birth of the twins, the news didn’t come out in public for almost a month, and when their arrival was announced, the fans were more than elated.
Karan shared his happiness on becoming a father and said:
“Fatherhood is proving to be a breathtaking roller coaster ride. When they were conceived, I was ecstatic, but I told myself I would be a responsible father and not a paranoid mother. Then came the complexities of premature birth. And the heartache of seeing them in the incubator. But I felt a strong sense of ownership. They were my lifelines. A lifelong dream come true. And I couldn’t wait to take them in my arms. When I did that for the first time, it was incredible.

I knew this was the beginning of a different kind of love story. The start of the best phase of my life. Mothers go through these emotions. Fathers come in later. But I was there right from the start, with the other mothers in the ICU whose babies were also born weighing less than 1.5 kilos, their vital body parts, their tiny lungs and heart underdeveloped. And each time a baby crossed 2 kilos and the nurses put up a smiley sunshine face announcing this, I would celebrate with their mothers because I fully empathised with them.”
He also explained that why he took the route of surrogacy and who inspired him.
He said:
“A single father is unusual in India. There are some famous single fathers in the world, celebs who were brave to have babies out of surrogacy, like Cristiano Ronaldo and Ricky Martin. But I wasn’t inspired by them. Or by anybody. I know Tusshar Kapoor took the step first. And what he did was amazing. But by the time his son Laksshya was born, my procedure had also started. I feel connected to Tusshar by our common decision. You can’t be inspired by anybody to have a baby out of surrogacy. You have to be emotionally ready. I was also prepared mentally, physically and logistically.”

So, this picture was posted when Karan was busy with IIFA in New York and like any other parent, he was missing his babies a lot. Look at their tiny hands, intertwined into Karan’s finger. Adorable, isn’t it? Not just this, when he had brought his little munchkins to their home from the hospital, he was spotted carrying one of his babies in his arms. Here are the pictures that paps clicked right away:
Well, just around the time when all these pictures of Karan Johar and his little munchkins came out, there was one more picture of Karan along with his bestie Manish Malhotra and director Gurinder Chadha, that started doing the rounds of the internet. The interesting part about this picture was the two little kids, a boy and a girl, of the same age, that Manish Malhotra and Gurinder Chadha were holding. This made everyone curious if they were Karan's twins. Here is the picture:
So while this picture got everyone excited as they thought that those were Karan's kids, it was Gurinder Chadha who cleared the air around it. Yes, it was the director who had shared this picture on her Twitter handle, and she cleared all the confusion around through the caption she had put along with the picture. Here is what it read:
"Look what I found!Who'd have thought dear @karanjohar you would be enjoying the same experience just a few years on!"
Yes, it was a throwback picture posted by the lady who herself is the mother of these two twins. And by the way, they are 10-year-old now! Well, this picture is super-cute for sure, and we hope that we get to see the lovely faces of Karan's little ones soon.
