In a throwback interview, Kareena Kapoor Khan had revealed her last memories with her late father-in-law, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and her relationship with her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore.
Born with a silver spoon, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was a pioneering figure in India's rich cricketing heritage. Just like his father, Iftikhar Ali Khan, MAK had impressed the cricket fans with his strokes and moves which not many would have imagined on-field on those days. As of November 2015, MAK remained the youngest Indian Test captain and second youngest International Test captain worldwide. Not just that, he had led India to their first overseas series win in 1967 against New Zealand. In a brutal car accident, he had lost the sight in his one eye but he didn’t lose his focus to excel in cricket. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was not only the Nawab of Pataudi, but Nawab of Cricket too. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi had found his sapnon ki rani in Sharmila Tagore, the leading and the most versatile Bollywood actress of her time, and had tied the knot in 1969. Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore’s love lasted forever, and it also flourished beyond the controversies. MAK and Sharmila Tagore are blessed with three children, Saif Ali Khan (1970), Saba Ali Khan (1976) and Soha Ali Khan (1978).
Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore’s son, Saif Ali Khan had married Kareena Kapoor in 2012 and in a throwback interview, the Begum of Pataudi had revealed her last memories with her late father-in-law. In a conversation with the Hindustan Times, when Kareena was asked about her last memory with her late father-in-law, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, she had retorted, “He was a very refined and kind man, sweet in nature and nice to be around. I looked up to him. Every time I met him was short and sweet. I wish I had had more time with him. That’s the biggest regret I’ll always have.”
Throwing some light on her relationship with her mother-in-law, Sharmila Tagore, Kareena Kapoor Khan had remarked, “She’s a warm, lovely and very liberal person who has inspired me in every way. She praises my performances and compliments me. She thinks I am very sensible. I am so happy to have her as my mother-in-law!” In the same interview, when Kareena was asked what she likes the best in her hubby, Saif Ali Khan, she had retorted, “Saif is very English, yet very desi. Look at him as Langda Tyagi in Omkara (2006). So real! But the best part about him is his detachment and least-bothered attitude towards competition in the industry. He truly doesn’t care. He has his own space, own idea and that’s what he loves following. He doesn’t take all this very seriously but he is too good at his job.” (Also Read: When Kareena Kapoor Reacted On Being Stuck In A Lift With Ex, Shahid Kapoor And Hubby, Saif Ali Khan)
