In a recent conversation, Kareena Kapoor opened up about the Kapoor women myth of not working in films. The actress gave credit to her dad for helping her and her sister, Karisma to break all the myths.
Kareena Kapoor is one of the most brilliant and beautiful actresses in Bollywood. The actress never shies away from mesmerising her fans with her jaw-dropping looks and top-notch acting skills. The daughter of Randhir Kapoor and Babita, Kareena debuted in Bollywood with Refugee. Since then, she has been providing her fans with some notable works in movies like Jab We Met, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, and more. Currently, the actress has been gearing up for the release of her upcoming movie, Jaane Jaan, which will mark her OTT debut.
Being a girl from the Kapoor family, it's pretty praiseworthy how Kareena and Karisma broke the myths and made a name for themselves in Bollywood. For those who don't know, in the Kapoor family, there had been an unsaid rule that women don't work in the film industry. None of the Kapoor women worked in the film industry, even if any already established actress like Neetu or Babita tied the knot in the Kapoor family, then they had to say goodbye to their acting careers. But the way Karisma and Kareena broke all these rules and turned into eminent actresses is simply inspiring. However, in a recent interview, Bebo opened up about the same.

Talking about the same, Kareena stated that it was a bit hard for Karisma as she was the first one to break all the myths about Kapoor girls not being able to do films. Sharing how their father has been supporting them, Kareena shared that he has always been way ahead of his times and always been supportive. Giving an instance about the same, Kareena said that if her father calls her in between work, he instantly apologises and asks his daughter to focus on her work. Sharing more details about the same, Kareena said:
"It was difficult during Karisma’s time because she was one of the first Kapoor girls but… not to ever say that my father didn’t support her and not to ever say… Even now, if he calls me and he knows I’m shooting, he will be apologetic that ‘oh no, okay, focus on your work’. He’s extremely cosmopolitan, extremely open-minded, he’s always he has just been so nice about everything. My father has been way ahead of his times."

Talking about the Kapoor women not working in the movies earlier, Kareena mentioned that all these happened a long time back and thus, things were different. The actress said that she is really happy that her father moved with the times as it is important to keep changing themselves for the sake of their kids. Kareena mentioned:
"Back in the 1970s and stuff, it was different because times were different. That when they got married they never really worked, but I’m glad that my father moved with the times because that’s what it is about. You have to keep changing yourself for your children. That’s also important, and not live in archaic times."
