At The Indian Express’ Express Adda event, Kareena Kapoor opened up about how her sister, Karisma Kapoor paved the way in the industry. Talking about the same, Kareena also stated that it was easy for her to make her name in Bollywood, as people used to know her as Karisma's sister already. Elaborating more on the same, Kareena mentioned:

The diva recalled Karisma had to face several comments like the taboo of the Kapoor family. Karisma also had come across some mean comments like light-eyed actresses can never become stars. Speaking along the same lines, Kareena shared:
"She kind of sowed the seeds and I reaped a lot from it. A lot of exposure happened being with her on sets. I have to give her so much credit. A lot of people initially never really supported her because a lot of people said light eyed actresses can never become big stars, so ‘don’t’ cast her.’ Also she had the taboo of the Kapoor family.”
Going further in the interview, Kareena Kapoor praised her sister, Karisma Kapoor and lauded her for her hard work and dedication. The actress stated that she got a lot of love from Karisma's fans. Sharing how she chose an alternative path to Karisma, Kareena shared:
"But she was kind of groundbreaking in so many ways that she just pushed herself, her dedication and hard work through all her films and she became the darling of the 90s. Her fans gave me a lot of love. She did a lot of commercial work and I chose an alternate path in Refugee. She was giving blockbusters. We kind of had different paths.”
