Kareena Kapoor opened up about walking out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film, 'Ram Leela', which eventually laid the foundation for Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone's romance.
Kareena Kapoor Khan is one of the most talented actresses of her generation. Daughter of actor parents, Randhir Kapoor and Babita, the diva went to carve her own legacy in the film industry, courtesy of her versatility in the craft. From serious roles, item numbers to the bubbly girl-next-door, Kareena has always impressed her fans with her successive performances. For the unversed, she made her debut with the film, Refugee in 2000, and ever since, there has been no looking back for her.
Kareena Kapoor has been known as a sassy personality, and the diva likes to live her life unapologetically. Back during the initial years of her career, she had a major fallout with the filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, who despite signing her for the film, Devdas, chalked her out in the last minute and roped in Aishwarya Rai. This infuriated her and the actress vowed never to work with him. Back in 2013, SLB again tried to collaborate with Kareena again for his film, Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, but she backed out of it. Incidentally, the movie became a landmark for actors, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, who not only starred in the film, but they also fell in love with one another in real life.

In a recent interaction with BBC Asian Network, Kareena Kapoor was asked about this very particular episode of her career, and was questioned if the lovely couple, Ranveer and Deepika thanked her for being an indirect cupid for their love story. To this, Kareena remarked:
“I believe in destiny, and I believe that whatever is meant to be in your life will happen, through anything. All is written in the stars and everything is not written for everyone.”
Right after facing such a disregard from Sanjay Leela Bhansali, after he didn’t finalise her casting even after signing her for Devdas, Kareena, in an interview with Filmfare, claimed that she was massively wronged. She added being hurt, since she was at the very beginning of her career and needed opportunities. Vowing that she’d never work with him again, Kareena said:
“I’ll never. What he did to me was wrong. He screen-tested me for Devdas, gave me a signing amount, then took someone else. That was wrong, it hurt especially because I was at the start of my career. It’s okay, because the day he dropped me, I signed Yaadein. Sanjay hurt me. Even if I have no work, I’ll never work with him.”
