Granddaughter of Shashi Kapoor and daughter of Karan Kapoor, Aliya Kapoor is one such lesser-known member of the Kapoor family, who is staying in London, away from the media limelight.
For almost a century, the Kapoors, known as the 'First Family of Indian Cinema', have entertained the audience and contributed to the Indian cinema with their talent and work. This is a surname that will forever go down in the history of Bollywood. Hailing from a Khatri Punjabi Hindu origin, Prithviraj Kapoor, who is known as the patriarch and the pioneer, made his screen debut in 1928 with a silent film. The next 'The Consolidators' generation of the Kapoors included Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor, who contributed to the Indian cinema. This was followed by 'The Forever Youthful' generation which included Randhir Kapoor, Babita, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Rajiv Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, Karan Kapoor and Sanjana Kapoor.

Then comes 'The Dream' generation comprising of Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Armaan Jain, Aadar Jain and their other lesser-known cousins. While we know their siblings and cousins, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni and Nikhil Nanda through social media, we don't know a lot about their other cousins. Over the decades, the Kapoors have grabbed the headlines for their professional as well as personal lives. The Kapoors have been enjoying the limelight for years now but still, there are a few Kapoor family members, who had stayed away from the media glare.
Granddaughter of Shashi Kapoor, Aliya Kapoor is one such member of the family, who stays in London, away from the media limelight. Aliya is the daughter of the British photographer and former actor-model of Indian and British descent, Karan Kapoor and his wife, Lorna Kapoor. Indian actors, Karisma Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ranbir Kapoor's cousin, Aliya lives in London with her dad, Karan and brother, Zak. Just like her parents, Aliya is blessed with European looks and was born and brought up in the UK. Despite being born and brought up in the UK, Aliya is close to her star cousins, who live in Mumbai and reportedly, she had even accompanied her dad, Karan, to the Pataudi Palace for Taimur Ali Khan's first birthday party.
To give you a brief about Karan Kapoor, he is the son of Shashi Kapoor and his India-settled wife, Jennifer Kapoor. Karan had made his Bollywood debut with Shyam Benegal's critically acclaimed film Junoon (1978) and had a minor part in his father's production, 36 Chowringhee Lane. Despite being a part of mainstream films, Sultanat and Loha, Karan failed to make his mark in the Hindi film industry. In 2016, Karan, in an interview with Rediff, had revealed that he was never interested in films. Revealing that he felt he was more inclined towards photography than acting, Karan had said, "I wasn't interested in films, but it was a good experience. When I was young, I felt my talent lay in photography, not movies. Now, I have won awards in photography (including the PDN Annual, American Photography, International Photography Awards, Prix de la Photographie, Black and White Spiders Cup) so I think I have achieved what I wanted to do."

When asked what his kids, Aliya Kapoor and Zak Kapoor think about his movies, Karan Kapoor had said, "They have seen clips of Sultanat and Loha. They laugh." Revealing if he has seen his niece, Kareena Kapoor Khan and nephew, Ranbir Kapoor's films, Karan had continued, "I liked 3 Idiots." Then after a lot of thought, Karan had added, "Hmmm... no, I haven't seen any of Ranbir's films." Speaking of his parents' reaction to his career choice, Karan had said, "My parents were very encouraging. They loved my pictures. They let their kids follow their own paths though I think Dad would have liked me behind the camera. But photography is also creative, so it was accepted."
Karan Kapoor had attended his niece, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan's son, Taimur Ali Khan's first birthday at the Pataudi Palace. Being a photographer, he had posted some beautiful clicks on his IG handle. The black-and-white pictures of chhote Nawab were a visual treat and they have just added to the charm of monochrome photographs. The pictures have captured the different moods of Taimur as he was enjoying his special day. Karisma Kapoor had also posted a pre-birthday celebration picture from Taimur's special day, back in 2017, and it had featured her with Karan, Kareena, Saif, Zahan Kapoor. She had captioned the post as "#family #bondingtime#chillyevenings #pataudidiaries."
