Karisma Kapoor, one of the leading actresses from the 90s, is a well-known name in Bollywood. Coming from one of the most prominent 'Kapoor Clan' in Bollywood, she continued her family's legacy in the film industry. Karisma gave back-to-back hits, worked with the leading stars, collaborated with top filmmakers, and achieved considerable success in entertainment industry. Despite having a busy and successful career, the actress has gradually slowed down her work. Karisma enjoys this calm and peace in life. Recently, she sat down for an interview with the Bombay Times and expressed how happy she has been with this new career phase.

Karisma enjoys being away from spotlight

Karisma was one of the leading commercial actresses in the '90s and early 2000s when her films made box office records. However, the actress is now happy being away from the limelight and feels no pressure on the uncertainty ahead. The Biwi No. 1 actress feels a change as the words like 'comeback' don't matter much. She was quoted as saying:

"I am so glad that times have changed for the better in so many ways. As I have always said, taking a break was a choice I made. I was happy being away from the limelight, and I am always happy to be away from the limelight – that's just my nature, even though I am an actress. If you ask me what's next, my answer is that I really don't know. I don't plan things, so I don't feel that pressure. Maybe I will act again, maybe I won't. That's the way I want to work, and I am happy doing that."

Karisma reveals that she did films for satisfaction at the peak of her career

Karisma's passion for cinema or acting hasn't decreased despite her slow pace of doing films and uncertain future in Bollywood. Instead, she wants to work on projects that help her improve as an actor. Karisma shared that since the initial days of her career, she has been trying to find a balance between commercial and offbeat cinema. Reflecting on her intention, Karisma said:

"I was dissuaded by my well-wishers. In those days, it was called parallel cinema, art film, or art-house films. Of course, being in the top position and delivering hit films was part of the game. But for me, it was always about being recognised as a good artist. This is why, at the peak of my career, when I was delivering blockbusters with top actors, directors and producers, I chose to do these films ('Fiza' and 'Zubeidaa') because they satisfied something within me."

Karisma feels that the present generation of actors is lucky

The popularity of OTT in the entertainment sector has brought new trends in Bollywood. Filmmakers and artists are experimenting with content on OTT, and new actors get a better chance to showcase their skills. Karisma, last seen in Netflix's Murder Mubarak, expressed that she was lucky to lead projects when Bollywood was more hero-centric with films like Fiza, Zubeidaa, and Shakti. The Hum Saath Saath Hain actress added that the present generation is lucky in this case due to the rise of OTT platforms.

Karisma focuses on being her authentic self as a reality show judge

Karisma will be judging India's Best Dancer, season 4. Over the years, she has often appeared as a guest or full-time judge in reality shows. Karisma shared that she has been offered several shows in the past, but she rejected them. However, she chose to do India's Best Dancer because she was a guest in the previous season and enjoyed its energy. At the same time, speaking on the new trend of highlighting emotional stories for more TRP, Karisma shared that she ensures that she is her authentic self, bringing her flavor to the show.
